Another kit in progress....this time, it's the Ferrari Testarossa. Although it's a 1984 car, i will try to do it in a modern style. Will do the car in bright red and black interior.

I'm looking forward to this!
I built this kit stock over 10 years ago and recently picked up another kit with plans of building a tuned version.

Thanks guys for giving me some idea to the Testarossa. For those who has done this kit before. Did you mask the whole body and spray those grills or hand paint them?? They are all attached to the body, the parallel lines of the grills are too thin and soft to remove and replace back.

Some progress.... engine done.
As for the body, i had made a terrible mistake by cleaning it with a dirty cloth before spraying and the paint was terrible! It looks as though the car has chicken box.
Hmm....looks like the cloth was stained with some wax and after cleaning the body with the car and sprayed, there were lots of spread dots around which paint can't cover them.
Paint was stripped off and body was sand again. I am very happy with the result now. Will put on the clear coat soon...

I must say that I will build my kit with the headlamps molded close... never thought they might look that ugly on the testarossa.
No offend to the builder of course, I mean the kit itself for sure.
Great job with the engine and bodypaint though :)

Just curious if anyone following this might know?
My Testarossa kit has a white shell and white sprues, is that normal or is it before they used colored plastics or what?

Mine's molded in red, black and grey... Maybe the guy you bought it from sprayed everything white, are the clear parts solid white as well? :icon16:

My testarossa is just a step to heaven and it slip and went right to hell... First time in my car modeling life, this kind of incident happened. :( After the clear coat...everything was perfect and a gust of wind just blow. Just that one second, i saw the piece of newspaper covering my testarossa. :swear: The rest of the parts were ok. And now need to do all over again..... :( Back and side of the Testarossa is fine, only the roof and front part.

Oh No!!!
I dropped my Jaguar XJR 9LM in the dirt after I clearcoated it and managed to fix the problem without painting the whole body? Could you just re-paint the roof and hood?

The clear coat paint is wet when the car is covered by newspaper. The roof and the front paint smear and there's newspaper print on the car :crying: I need to sand again....

Dear all...thanks for your concern :) I managed to fix back the Testarossa! A lot of sanding due to uneven smear paint on the roof. Another layer of red were put on. Will make sure there's no newspapers around tomorrow when i spray the clear coat :grinyes:

Yeah, me too, I wanna know!
I had to repaint my first enzo's hood because I dropped it once on carpet after painting, and a second time after I snagged it getting up. Live and learn I guess.

Gee, sounds like you guys have had some bum luck; my worst problem was dropping my dry, but painted Corvette Z06 on some gravel that scratched up the paint. Get this killer fix--I was in the process of going to clear coat, so I did it anyway. The scratches completely disappeared. :ylsuper:

Hi...yes for those who are interested, i did use airbrush for some of my models. But the airbrush is not mine. I am currently still doing research and experiments on paints for my model cars and i'm looking at the results of how shine the paint can be and how long the shine can last? Maybe i will reveal the secrets once the experiments are over :)
Meanwhile...this is a sample of how shine the car is after clear coat is on...
