MadMaxima shared this with me earlier. Saleen might just do a project with Chevy....that's right, Chevy. On top of that we might be looking at a 600+hp Camaro in a few years. Take a look:

i think the new camaro engine sounds pretty nice.

People deciding between a GT500 and a possible Saleen Camaro would more than likely have enough money to get which one they want. Not always, but I would assume most of the time.

thats not the point, these cars represent a very small portion of sales.

I can not speak for MadMaxima but I at least would think that he meant (and this is what I thought as well) that Ford needs to build something to compete with it, not for sales, but just to keep up with Chevy. It's not always about marketing but more of a social standing between the two.

that sounds great. yes, i do think ford will have to 'step their game up' in the tuning division if saleen is going with chevy as well. this is 'bragging rights' to which company is better to people nowadays.
i dont want to say anything that i dont know of, but
whats the difference between a 6.2L chevy big block and the LS7 for the vette? is this going to change chevy's production of the vette, if the camero is pushing almost the same power for like 20g less?

Yea SL3KGT pretty much has the idea of what I meant.
Ford prolly will be fine, but I'm not talking or worried about sales, I mean these cars are limited production vehicles anyway, with only a couple thousand made(??) so its not like their company is relying on them to make them huge profits. But as far as status as a car maker, GM is really stepping it up lately, (Z06, new Camaro, hell even the new Saturns, Sky, the Redline division, etc.)
The fact a Saleen, whos has always been associated with Ford, is now joining up with GM for these projects says something in itself.

im pretty sure the 6.2l is still a small block. the ls7 also has 50 more hp. its not going to change anything about the vette though, but i wouldnt be surprised if they increase the power of that too. if you look at the C5 vettes they had the same power as the camaros then too. the difference is in everything else about the car. handling and whatnot.

thing is 50 hp is easily attained by v8s by adding i/h/e. its pretty much pointless then of buying the vette, unless your planning of road racing. most people i know that buy vettes are to go fast in the straight line...
i was wondering about his new sig. 1 problem. it says all motor. then 13 psi. then 50shot
and dynos at 57hp or so. haha

As good as this camaro sounds, I don't think its going to be good competition for the mustang. I am pretty sure it will be faster than the GT, but it will also be considerably more expensive. Under 30000 for a V8 camaro....I think not, they were barely under 30 when they stopped making them. When a bigger badder camaro is released it will only be more expensive. I fully expect in the ballpark of 35 as a base for the z28. Nice car but I think mustangs and camaros will live the same roles that they have been for the past 40 years.

that depends on how highly tuned the v8 already is, to how easily it gets more power. my guess is that it wont be as easy as you think to get 50 more hp out of the 6.2l engine. probably wont be to hard though. corvettes also go faster in a straight line too, they have a better suspension and weigh less.

620? are you out of your ball park mush? i mean its hard enough for you to launch the thing when it was stock on street tires. what makes you think 620 will help that? unless you think of driving on slicks all day long....
this is no way dissing your driving skills about the sartie that you had a huge rant about doing the same corner with different cars....just a brief statement, unless you have kept practicing it everyday, and all of a sudden got really great at launching it. if thats the case, its new news to me.

AHAHAHAH!
Its cool Chiquae, Yeah I had some issues with traction but c'mon bro! 400hp on shitty all-season tires? who wouldnt have traction issues? :grinyes:
Nah I got it down now, still not running what it should and I bumped the BHP up to 447 at the crank but Im only running 13.7 when it should be 13.0 flat or 12.9 but I know I wont hit that ever with my throttle happy foot! :banghead:
But yeah with a Maggie SC I can get her to about 620, and thats under a conservative tune. some guys on LS2GTO.com have thier blown goats hitting 740.
and the issue with the SRT-4 on the other thread had nothing to do with launching. Its about momentum and weight shifting. My Goat has 52/48 split weight which is what makes it run crazy good lap times. Same time round the Top-Gear track as an STI! thats preaty sick for a 3700 pound muscle car.:evillol:
Gonna be tough to decide in a couple of years when I start looking for another car though. Saleen Camaro or Lingenfelther GTO?

Good to hear that you are able to keep the Goat Mushashi. 13.7 sec. 1/4 mile is decent enough, for street tires, to beat most cars on the road. Obviously you should be running a bit faster though. On drag radials even I could run a 13.1 sec. pass at my track, and that was at 2000ft. DA.
Then again i've heard that those Goats are hard to launch with those weak ass tires that they put on them.

quick question though mush. y a super? aren't you a turbo guy from your 3kgt days? i mean the turbo wouldn't fully kick in at under 2k, when the super will. now how are you going to put all that tq to the ground with the super? im just sayin that the turbo may or maynot give the same tq numbers, but at least you have a slight delay to launch it properly.

Well, the jury is out on that one still. I think Mushi should go with a turbo. More power, adjusta boost, and with a properly sized turbo and tune, lag is almost a non issue. I know its not some highpowered super turbo machine of d00m, but that 335i coupe I drove? No lag whatsoever.

I am sure that if the turbo is properly sized with very little lag it won't have the outrageous HP numbers you would expect. I think a well built supercharger could match a properly sized turbo as far as power output in most cases. For street cars I don't think that "more power" is a realistic advantage of a turbo.

Actually I like SCs alot more for the simplicity.
Im all about reliability. I rather roll on 500 solid HP that I know will not eat away at my internals and drive hard every day then to have a 800 HP on a dangerous set motor that can go at any moment.
The more power you put down the more often you will have to rebuild.
Im rolling on 365 whp and I can run the hell out of him all day without even having to worry about burnt oil! :evillol:
why do I want a turbo? what do i need, ulsers? having to worry about vacume lines and boost leaks and BOVs not opening wide enough and all that!
With the SC you drop it ontop o da motor, run a pulley through a belt and tap a oil feed line. DONE!

Dude, its a GTO, not a SRT-4...
I guess its all up to personal prefrence. if your turbo set up is done properly, you can make plenty of power, with little if any boost lag, and have it done reliably. I mean, c'mon, how many Supras are out there running 800+ at the rear wheels and doing it day in and day out. In the August '05 (Vulme 17, number 80) issue of SCC, they have one guy in Ft. Worth running a Supra with 728rwhp on blessed Texas 93, 1089rwhp on race gas. Big numbers right? Well, lets add this in...he has over 166k on the clock.
There are plenty of GTOs, 'Maros, 'Vettes, and 'Stangs putting down hella numbers with a hairdryer. There are also an equal amount doing the same with hamster wheels. Its all personal prefrence. Me, I prefer turbos. If you wanna go with an SC, go for it!
