okay...

so I noticed today that when I slow down (not applying brakes) that there is a sound coming from the front end, seems like from the tire area. And it goes thump.thump.thump..thump..thump...thump...thumpp.. ..thummpp....thummp......thummppp.......thump..... ...thump............thump.


yeah...incase you couldn't catch that. It went "thump", according to how fast/slow I was going. Applying the brakes has no effect on it, and there is nothing visably wrong with the tires. You think it might be my rotors? I can't think of what could cause that. Any ideas?

Could be some nasty ass rotor warp but thats just my take on things. Before I swapped mine out I got alot of body shake when braking thanks to the rotors and after a bit they did make a touch of a thumbing noise.

My dads honda had the same problem, then i realized it had a nail in the tire lol :banghead:

When was the last time you had a brake job? It wouldnt hurt to get one done.

since i had the car. I'm having it looked at Thursday I think. If I need new rotors, I'll get cross drilled and slotted ones HAWT ;)

does the steering wheel go back and forth slightly with the thumps? if the tires getting old it could have formed a bubble on the tread

Dont get crossed drilled rotors.. just get sotted ones.. cross drilling creates stress points and can cause cracks in your rotors..

I got some powerslot rotors on my '00 cavalier z24 with some napa ceramic pads and it stops real nice now.. especially from high speeds..

if done right it won't. When you have the combination of cross drilling AND Slotted rotors, it's fine. yes I agree, if the holes are too close together or you have too many of them it weakens the structure of it and can cause cracking, however. If they are spaced out sparsely and you have slots in there, it's like 100 times better then just slotted ones. I agree with you, but when it's both...there's less holes. so it's safer then just all holes...

you will also notice that when you accelerate, the thumpin noise will stop

tighten ur lug nuts...1 of your lugnuts has come lose and ur tire is goin back and forth ruining the rest of ur studs....try it cuz its free, and if it dosnt work all you wasted was 5 minutes

you said ur tires are new so the ppl that put ur tires back on prob didnt tighten a lug nut tight enough and 6 weeks of driving prob wiggled it a tad loose

I checked that today, all tight. Someone else recommended that I try that. I'm taking to a guy tomorrow and hopefully I'll find out, and no it keeps doing it when I accelerate too...but just barely...
