There's actully 4 generations of 3SGTE, the gen 4 version is in the GT-T Caldinas and has received a number of revisions since it's use in the last of the MR2's. There are clear external differences such as direct fire ignition and a side feed intake manifold, and translation of the japanese blurb suggests revisions to the pistons, rods and turbo as well. It has 260ps, but Just to be perfectly clear though, this version was never used in the MR2.

"how much hp does a 4th gen 3SGTE engine have"

and YOU didn't read it properly as he never asked specificly about MR2's ;)

Either way it's a damn nice engine and the first 4wd version of it as well!!

he claims to have one. but i am having a pretty hard time believing that a 97 mr2 gts motor is a 4th gen motor, especially when im pretty sure that its not. i have always read that the mr2's, even the 99's never received the 4th gen, just the 3rd gen 3sgte. maybe bill strong or any other hard core mr2 enthusiast can tell us whats what.

I agree....and I STILL stand by what I said above...he is wrong. People get the CHASSIS and the engine generations mixed up. What does it mater now anyway?? Have you got a MR2 yet??

I don't believe AWD/3S-GTE/Manual trans is an option. That's why I blocked it out of my mind. It sucks! 3S-GTE is a sporty engine, why no sporty trans.. lol.. just MHO.

10.2.....in my dreams too :( That's a Japanese car, there's HEAPS that run 10's in Japan, here in NZ there's not too many around and bugger all below 12's. Im yet to put mine down the quarter but I'd expect mid 12's to mid 13's as it is now with the minimal mods I have :)

its stillin the tunning stage.
With gremlins it did a 310Wheel hpwr at only 7lbs of boost. Its only a 2.2lter
Pats i thought is a 2.3 since he has a stroker kit in his motor
