basically, coilovers will be struts with the springs on them. coilovers will be set up so you can adjust the height of the vehicle by moving the seat of the spring. fyi a B15 has struts not shocks.

also, if you're buying coilovers, make sure you actually get coilovers, not sleeve overs. They're kinda the same thing but a sleeve over retains the strut that's already on the car. not to mention they only hurt perfomormance.

coilovers have the damper inside of the spring coil, enabling lower ride heights and increased control, shocks are actually called dampers and just dampen spring movement, a strut on the other hand, integrates the damper and spring in one unit, different from traditional shock and spring suspensions found on older cars where they are no where near each other, better now?
