Starter Trouble

I am having starter trouble with my aspire, I was having problems with a dead spot in the starter when I turned the key nothing happened, and it would also screech when started. When it got warmer it would not do this. So I replaced it with a advance auto rebuilt, and it still screeched a little then when summer came it never had a problem, not that it is getting colder it is screeching again till it really warms up, I went underneath to change the oil the other day, played with the one electrical small connection to the starter and it was fine for awhile till it got damp from some snow we had here in Wisconsin. Now it screeches again when started. Could it be this connection? When I gets wet or it had a bad connection? or is it the starter again?

May be. Make sure the connector is tight and clean and put a little silcone or something to keep moisture out of it.
Can you better describe the noise/ Like metal/gear grinding or whatever?

It sounds like a screech, at the end of the start then sometimes it sounds like maybe gears at it's worse, but it only does it when it is cold or damp it seems, all summer long it was fine. This morning it had a hard start like it was not turning over meshing or something..

That much noise sounds like it may be time for another starter or flyweel or both.

Why does it only do it when cold or damp then, this is what makes no sense. This starter is only 1 year old, i already replaced it.

One year old on a rebuilt starter you might be luckie it lasted a year.
It could have been a 90 day wander starter.
How long was it gauranteed for?
If it is noisie I would take back where you got it and get a trained ear to listen to it.
Could be bad starter or flywheel or both.
As far as weather if it kicks in and turns the engine over.
The weather is not the problem.

you did nto understand what i meant about the eather, the starter only makes noise when it is cold, if it is warm out it is totally fine, no noise and sounds normal

Cold or hot wet or dry if it is making a noise when turning the engine over it sounds like a bad starter.
But also check the flywheel teet when you have the starter off.
A bad flywheel or oil leaking on the starter can give you starter problems to.
But where you have a lifetime starter take it back and let them listen to it.
They should take care of it or make it good.
If they installed it to start with they should instll another one for you but depending on warranty you may have to pay labor on it.
Good luck

I was right, it was the electrical connection, a little bit of electrical Grease on it and it went away, now the starter is fine. That means the connection was arching, sort of a wife with a flat blade connection on the starter, the connector fit a little loose on the blade connector, so with the anti oxidant grease it made a good connection, no problems now.

thanks for the support! Yes i had them order the starter, it was warm out, so i thought better just do it, but then i remembered that i jiggled that connection before and it worked fine, We were hooking up electrical at my mobile office and we use electrical grease to avoid arching in the 100amp connections, so i thought hey! same thing, and it worked. so thanks to all who supported this with me, and i look forward to working more on this vehicle, it has been a good car to me, I bought it for my mother back in 99 and it only has 83,000 on her and she looks like new still and runs great..just trying to keep her that way..

10-4 on the electrical connections.
They are a lot of times the main problem on a lot of stuff.
Get them good and tight and the greese helps them make connection and keeps moisture out.
Ford has a lot of problems on that plug on connecror on there starters
Some of the rebuilt starters even come with a new wire and connector.
Good luck with it.
