AC compressor and/or condensor repl.?

The pulley on the AC compressor just seized up on my 1997 Taurus. I got a shorter belt to bypass the A/C, but the belt rubs against the A/C pulley. I don't NEED A/C in this car for the next couple of days, and want to just remove this thing until I can replace it in my father-in-law's garage.

Do I need to remove the A/C compressor AND the A/C Condenser? or just the Compressor

Please help with any wisdom.:screwy:

I am finding out that these two parts are connected, and they both come out together.

Any advise on what materials to use to plug the lines?

For the short term, you may be able to just remove the pulley and clutch from the compressor to gain enough clearance for the shorter belt.

A good way to plug the lines would be to find the proper shipping caps that the new hoses come with and tape them in place so they don't fall out. I'm not sure where one would go about searching for the shipping caps though, maybe from a shop that does quite a bit of A/C work or a custom hose shop.

I have also seen people use duct tape to plug the lines, but that is not the ideal way in my mind as the oil in the lines may prevent the duct tape from sealing well and most tape adhesives will get gooey when heated and leave a residue on the hose fitting surfaces.
