Hello, this has been a minor problem for some time, since I couldn't pin point the cause of the disapearance of my antifreeze. Well now I'm actually seeing a leak. The antifreeze is dripping from what looks like some plug ins on the throttle body. But I could be wrong. It doesn't start to leak until the thermostat kicks in. I've looked around where the thermostat is, but haven't seen anything leaking. My guess is that there's a seal that is worn out. My dad is kind of a backyard mechanic and thinks it may be my thermostat. Of course he always worked on older cars with carburetors. Anyone have any ideas what this might be or if my Dad is right?

Also, when I slow down the car kind of shimmies, now I know that could be a sign of warped rotors, but they are brand new Raybestos BruteStops and the pads are Raybestos QuietStops. I have had some trouble with my drums, there was a piece of metal broken off in there, but I could not find mention of it in the Chilton manual I have and am assuming that it's something to do with the parking brake, because the car doesn't pull to one side or the other when braking. Should I be looking for a replacement part for that?

I also have a few electrical problems, but none too major. I need to fix my cruise, but I know where that's at. But has anyone had their radio go out?

Presssure test it to pinpoint the coolant leak source, possible tb gasket. Could be any thing loose in the steering causing the shimmy, is it in the wheel, brake pedal,? a rear drum out of round can cause a brake only shudder also.

So you're thinking possibly a bad throttle body gasket? What I don't understand is when the hell does the coolant ever make it to there. I was also thinking that maybe there's a spray that's coming out through a crack in the gasket from the thermostat that's letting the antifreeze make it to the solenoid on the air intake, and I'm sorry I misstated myself earlier it's I guess on the air intake, there's some solenoid there and it's before it makes it to the intake, I assumed that would be the throttle body, but I'm so used to working on my old Caprice. The shimmy would probably be the car rather than the wheels. I do feel it in the wheel but it isn't pronounced a drum out of round really sounds like it might be my culprit here. The drums look stock. I will try to get out this weekend and pick up some new drums, probably needs some new shoes too. They're getting pretty old. Would O'Reilly carry a kit for spare brake parts? I know when I tried to fix my parking brake on my Caprice I was unable to find the strut anywhere.

Last time I changed the oil I looked for anything out of place and I rotated the tires at the same time. Everything looked good, probably needs another alignment (bad streets and speed bumps). Thanks a lot for all your help, please don't hesitate to add anything. Hopefully I'll get a nice day so I can get out and work on it. Thanks again.

Any parts store has brake hardware.

Happened to notice today over lunch that there were no leaks. It's been a pretty mild afternoon, considering that the last couple of days were pretty chilly. This may be why I hadn't really noticed the leak until recently. I went out and got a new thermostat and gasket and seal (this one requires a seal) and some gasket sealant. I also noticed that my car seemed to be running cooler than usual. probably around 180 or a little less. If this confirms my idea, let me know please. Thanks again for the help.

Do it and see what happens leaks at the tb can be common though. Do not use rtv on the seal itself.

Use the RTV on the gasket right? Quick question by tb do you mean Throttle Body? I'm sure that's a dumb question, but I'm still learning. Oh and on the RTV it says it takes 12-24 hrs to fully cure. Am I going to have to wait that long to drive my car?

TB , throttle body, give it 2 hours and drive it.

Went ahead and replaced the thermostat and new gasket and seal. It was a bit tough starting, It sure didn't want to let me scrape off the old one. But I was able to get that out and the seal around the thermostat broke apart when I was removing it. But it hasn't looked like my engine's on fire when I stop for some the past couple of days. So hopefully by the end of the week I'll have the same amount of antifreeze in the car as I had the day I added some. Thanks for all the help.
