My S10 V6 would not start one mourning , since I had filled up tank the day before I changed the fuel filter, ran great 2 days & then would not start ( damp mourning)......I disconnect fuel line to check fuel pump >> pleanty of fuel flow, reconected, started & ran great 2 days then again ( damp morning ) no start, Cleaned TBI , New air filter ....... put back together ran great 2 days >>EEEEK, no start in mourning again........ took a good look with power full light & discoverd mouse nest around base of distributer........vacummed area, checked tightness of electrical connections & wires didnt have any apparent chewing damage. turned key started ran great 2 days >> Ssame senerio no start in mourning . tried spraying quick start, didnt work didnt even try to fire up. I think problem is electrical or fuel pressure relay or stuck poppet causing fuel to leak down Engine 98 V6 Vortech TBI , has 73k miles I am original owner, any ideas ? OR diagnosis

Have spark plug wires been looked at recently, or more importantly, the distributor cap and rotor. In my opinion, replace the cap and rotor with a AC Delco, no t a cheap one and see what happens. Many people on here have been having a problem with no starts and eventually cap and rotor causing a ton of headaches.

I agree as i am original owner she has 75 k miles time for plugs etc. I think S10 problem is one of the electrical / sensors / gizmos & not fuel related ,& on top of engine ....she wouldnt start this moiurning i put the hood up & wiggled every electrical connection & weather pack ( connectors ) she staretd right up went on the highway to 75 mph ran great..tomorrow if she dosent start again will deal with each segment jiggle & try to start maybee by trial & error will find culprit..will advise further....

I'd look closer at the wires for where the mouse did chew the insulation and probably a short - feel along the wires in the hard to reach places and there are wires behind the dist for the oil pressure and dist to ECM and coil.

AMENDUM..The no start is always first thing in the mourning , & damp or wet mournings.....when runs runs great all day , If i wiggle the multiple connections on top of engine & then turn key she starts .seems something is loose electically nect time she will bot stsar will wiggle & ytap each connection individually & see if by process of eliminatoion i can isolat........however going to NAPPA getting cap / rotor & new engine wires as well as spark plugs have never been changed in 75 k miles

Installed new cap ,roter, plugs & wires. Significant corrosion within cap..plugs grungy & the center electrodes worn, resulting in gap over .65
Question where is ignition module located ? 1998 S10 V6 4.3L ,vin code X .

98 up is next to the coil - rarely the problem - check wires to it from the coil.

Good thought, but most of the time if its a coil problem, the problem will get worse as the engine warms up
