I have a 2000 Kia sportage. We installed a new engine. Could not get engine to fire, then found a wiring problem. Fixed that and now the transmission will not shift correctly. The computer is showing a speed sensor code and some type of manufacturing code. Need a troubleshooting flowchart for this problem. PLEASE HELP!:banghead:

...sportages are a little tricky....lots of problems with sensor connectors, grounds,...and the like. it can be anything....

I suggest same topic be continued in the in the same original thread..it help others follow the logic.
INdeed 1447 and 1673 are not directly listed...but following the logic of neighboring codes, these two seem to have no relation to transmission: 1447 could be related to purge control and 1673 - by Sephia - relates to heater blower motor or some other instrument panel function.... . so..no miracle yet..I suggest you e-mail axe-man at [email protected]

I tried to mail axe-MAN but no response is there any one out there with
some voltage ponts for purge connector I am showing 5v on one and 12v
on the other wire I am at the end of the line with this I thought there where
5v and a :smokin: ground?

Purge valve is fed 12V on one side and takes ground from the ECM on the other side (contact 18 below)...
With the solenoid valve unconnected, one of the wires will show 12, the other would show some meaningless "floating" voltage from the ECM, like the 5 v you see . Readings must be taken with a load and then the other side will show 12 v when not grounded by ECM, and about 1 volt when trigged by the ECM.

Thank's for all of your helpful tip's BUT I am still not going anywhere.
I have changed the speed sensor and checked the voltage still nothing
I have had every wire out and OHM'ed most of the wires in
related area's 3time's do not won't to have to take to the dealer I know
all they can help me with is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Great thanks for your input: it is key to know of such occurrences; this is rare to the point it is the last thing to expect...although it stays being a suspect...Were you able to test with one at no risk in case it didn't prove to be the solution or you had to take it on yourself?

I was at the end of the line. I did not give up took a little time off and thought. The only thing it could be is the ECU but I got it CHA CHING the scrape yard had one for around 150$ thanks for all of your help if you need any help fixing a t.v let me know [email protected].

weird faulty ECU I wonder is KIA ECU's have the same doomed failures as the DSM's with the capasitors or where ever they are called.
