Hi there. I have a 97 Regal Gs with approx 120,000 miles. I am having a problem with the engine staying running after i start it. Car runs for two or three seconds and then stalls. I checked positive on the pump and found that something (computer?) is telling the pump to shut off. It will do this over and over. Was told it could be the crank pos sensor. Put the car on computer and it read 950 RPM after initial start. Does the fact that it reads RPM indicate the Crank Sensor is good? If it is, then anyone got ideas on what else could be telling the pump to shut down? Oil sensor or Mass air flow? What do i troubleshoot next??
Thanks for any help.:screwy:

Welcome to AF.
The Regal GS (L67) has a two speed fuel pump. Your symptoms is consistent with a bad fuel pump resistor which ties into the fuel pump hi-speed relay.
Let me know if you would like tech procedure on it.

I was sure I already replied but I don,t see it on the post so Ill try again. Sorry for the delay. Me and computers don't always mix. I just wanted to say thanks. That was exactly what it was. Changed the resistor( under the battery?!) and it started right up. Can't thank you enough. I was about to start pulling what little hair I have left out. Thanks again.
