i could not find a wiring harness for my car so when i installed my new stereo i had to hard wire it to the car. how difficult will this make future work and future stereo/head unit replacement??
next i plan to replace my blown Sony Xplods with Pyle 3-ways and then Rockford amp/12" subs and cap (the amp/subs/cap will be professionally installed).
ps. i acutally found a wiring harness for this car after i had already hard wired it. should i try to hard wire the old conneciton back into place and then use a wiring harness or just leave it??
please help and thanx

leave the wiring be, it's already done .... and scrap the cap, spend it on some better stuff

will hard wiring make it difficult to replace the head unit again in the future??
also, the guy from ultimate electronics said the cap is important for playing defense for the cars electrical system if something was to go wrong...???
what do you think of pyle brand speakers?? or was that a dumb idea as a replacement brand??

trust me, he's just trying to sell you something you don't need. don't buy a cap. Here, read this thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=501886)
switching out sony's for pyle's is like doing nothing, imo. if you're looking for cheap components, atleast consider something like Phoenix Gold.
the wiring is done. Had you had a harness, switching HU's would be as simple as clip off, clip on. I'd leave it alone, you've got ur HU in, no need to go through all the trouble now.
(EDIT: after re-reading that old thread, i have to say, i miss Jet-Lee's asshole remarks, lol)

i know you won't get the same quality audio you would in a better company, as for durability, i wouldn't trust it, but maybe someone else here could give you some reviews. check google for reviews on products you buy, as well. don't always trust anyone's review, however, they may not know what the hell they're talking about.
as far as i know, Pyle is just like Power Acoustik, Lightning Audio, Soundstorm, Dual, and Sony... total crap.

okay, how about audiobahn?? a guy i work with recommended that brand. are they any good??
i dont really care about name brand so much as sound quality and performance.

if you care about quality and not the name, then look away from mainstream and get ready to start spending some bigger bucks. The best compromise for quality and price that i've found, personally, have been Phoenix Gold (for components, atleast). Alpine is also a more mainstream company that is still a well rounded quality product.

well, i dislike them personally, but they are decent products. atleast, better than sony.
edit: go to a dealer where you are able to test the sound yourself. bring a CD of songs you normally play, and ask the dealer to play it on the speakers you are looking to buy. I believe most Best Buys and Circuit Cities do this, and small audio dealers should as well. This way, you don't have to keep asking us whats good and not, and can see for yourself. The way an audiophile thinks about audio quality will be more meticulous, and in the end irrelevent to the person who is buying a simple sound system. They'll tell you Kicker is terrible and Audiobahns are awful... when in reality they are decent products that are simply overpriced.

Audiobahn is called audiospawn by some people around here so I'd stay away from them. My friend went with Pyles and they sound just average, however they seem to be pretty durable. if you're replacing blown speakers then you might as well go with them if you just want to skimp on $$. unless you're changing your HU every few years, hardwiring is going to be fine and nothing to worry about. unless you have a really powerful amp and you're blasting music to the point that other cars rattle as well as your own, a cap is just extra $$$ which you could spend on better speakers or sound deadening or lunch.

what size speakers are you looking for? i'll see if i can find you a decent deal in the little free time i've got around here.

i didn't have spots, so i made them. drill a small hole then cutout a small radius circle with a jigsaw for a snug flush fit.
anyway, i'm really busy, i'll give you a link or two later.

here's some suggestions: (keep in mind, this site isn't necesarily the cheapest. shop around)
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4242

Phoenix Gold is also something to look at if you want to go cheaper, but i recomend those two as i've heard good reviews from both products, and they show decent enough specs. they're nothing too fancy, either. If you're willing to spend a little more, i'd recomend CDT, Eclipse, Boston Acoustics, or JL. but these should be fine for a normal system.
