Hello
I have a hole in the hose of the steering power (direction)and the nut is very far under .I have the new spare part .
I tried without success to reach this nut, I think the best way is by the top, by under the car it seems impossible .
So what is the shape of that kind of tool , that allowed you to have enough strenght to screw or unscrew the nut
Has some one of you experienced that very pleasant job
Thank you for your help

I suppose you are talking of the nut on the rack and pinion (cremaillère) itself. I removed and installed back the rack and pinion several years ago....but my access to the nuts and bolts with ordinary tools was facilitated by the fact the back of the frame was lowered about 4 inches or 10 cm....(removed 2 bolts at the back od the sub frame) and to get that low, one has to disconnect the steering column from the rack and pinion in the first place...somewhat cumbersome...So..I just hope someone comes with a better idea.....

i never could figure out how to get it out on my sisters Transport. ended up taking it to a shop. the flat rate is .9 hours. my mechanic did it for $50 after my sister took it to the crooks by her and got a quote of $325. i faxed that quote with my invoice over to the attorney generals office.
