Cool! I less than three Aoshima. They're all kinds of good. Everyone has been so excited about Fujimi's sudden rise to awesomeness, but forgot that Aoshima is getting better, too, and started off a lot better than Fujimi did anyway.

I cant wait for Ueo's AE86 and NOB's s-15. I like the Top Secret street car, are the also making the REamemiya street car too? i think thats what that yellow car under it is. Aoshima is my favorite company nowadays too.
P.S. on a side not is Revell making soccer player models?

this is, however, quite dishartening for me. I might as well give up trying to complete my SR20 project.
but are these diecast models? what if they aren't to scale with the REAL 1:24 scale stuff?

Does Aoshima make diecast?
edit: Nevermind, I just looked on hlj and it looks like these 180sx's are diecast.. but the Silvia S13 is a plastic model, so yeah, there goes your project..

That's exactly how I felt when I found out that they were releasing the Corolla model with an engine. I pretty much gave up on my Fujimi model with 20 valve (if any of you out there remember):

But....
I definitely look forward to picking up a Aoshima Trueno with engine and Silvia with engine. It'll be fun to "fix up" and modify.

hmm anyone try using the sr20 out of one of those dicast jada toys models?? i cant stand how those cars are soo out of proportion, but they do come with a sr20 that might be a good canidate.

the Jada kit is actually about 1/20th or 1/18 scale, way to big for anything in the 1/24 1/25 scale arena.
are there any updates on a release date, or how production is coming along? I'd like to see what I'm up against. if it's anything like the AE86, I might as well hang it up.

It's out, you can actually order it at HLJ. Be sure to get the cool version w/engine :smokin:

Definitely not something to be proud of but it's all I could come up with at the time.
I just got my shipping notice from HLJ and those REAL SR20 engines are on their way! Here's to the miracle of AF's Car modeling forum, and tipping me off so I could order 20 kits from HLJ!!!

Guys I bought this kit, and it's not a stand alone engine. The sump, etc. is moulded into the chassis, and the engine bay is assembled then clipped into the front of the chassis. So it's not suitable for transplanting straight out of the box, it will need some work.

Just got my kits!
I'm totally excited about the engine!
Here are some mock-up pics...it's got all the detail I wished for, including the injector rail!
I will be mating it with a separate tranny for a Datsun roadster swap project.
Can't believe it's here, finally an SR20 we can use. I included the JADA SR I was using before Aoshima saved the day.
Enjoy!

True, but even that is better than nothing.

Sorry to tell You but it's only half engine just like Hotworks diecasts are (pretty much similar in other ways too). But Aoshima makes them true to scale and it doesn't look out of scale like Hotworks' models. I have one both.

wow, I'm so totally not impressed. as I stated earlier in 675datsun's progress thread, this makes me more than happy that my work of a correct scale (will be halfway between 1/24 & 1/25) moderate to highly detailed SR20DE(T) was not in vane. but it is a motor in a JDM car none the less!!! and that is good.
so tell us about the rest of the kit. give us a brutally honest review!! WITH LOTS OF PICS!!!!!!
