My 94 apv with 220000 miles just let all the tranny flid out. The axel is loose where it goes into the trans. housing on the left side, I assume there is a bearing there? Is this terminal or can it be easily fixed from the outside?

Actually its a seal not a bearing. Its not really that complicated even though it seems like it. Just have to pull the (tire, brakes, nuts that hold the 1/2 shaft to the strut assembly. and then CAREFULLY pull the shaft out of the case and change the seal) the seal should be like $10 and there are a lot of small jobs I didn't mention but a 12 yr old could do this without much help its really pretty easy. By the way I've done these on about a dozen, dozen vehicles its really not that bad. You need a clean floor or place to be for a few hrs. and basic hand tools. A impact will help but it can be down by hand. And just sit down and have fun.
