Clusters

Yeah I've wanted to buy a z24 cluster for my car (one with a tach) since like the dawn of time...and I was looking around on ebay and it struck me...there are tons of variations of clusters, w/ tach w/o tach, AT 4 spd, AT 3 spd, MT, Digital ODO, Analog ODO.....

So my question is, does anybody know what would happen if you took a cluster from a 99 z24 4-spd auto, and put it into a 99 base 3-spd auto.... On the inside it reads PRND321 and the other is PRND21...so would the three just not light up, or would 3 act as drive and the others be off sync...does anybody know for sure what would happen? b/c I can't find any 3-spd's with a tach. or actually a MT one would work if I can't find any others...oh well..

Well, say you did get the 4spd one, and your car is a 3spd...

I'm gonna say the 3 on the z24 gauge would light up and act as your 2nd gear, and the 2 would act as your 1st gear, and the 1 wouldn't light up.

Or there's the possibility that the gauge would be off and the little needle thing that goes behind the "PRND###" characters would'nt be in the right place and go in between the letters or numbers, see what im saying or no?

I dunno, I'm not really sure....I would think that it would have to do with the computer. I would be buying the whole cluster, not just a face....
