First off, this isn't going to turn into a "which is better" thread, b/c god knows we have enough of those. I want this to be YOUR own personal opinion on what you think I should do. First off, let me give you the background info, and based on that, put yourself in my place, and tell me what you would do and NO selling the car is not an option, lol.
Okay, first off there are two paths I can go choose.
Turbo...or....Nitrous.
To go the turbo route I would have to:
- Have a custom downpipe made to fit
- Buy Intercooler piping
- Buy an oil filter adapter (t)
- Buy an oil send flange
- Get gaskets for all the flanges....
I won't need to upgrade fuel or anything b/c I'm not planning on running that much boost. To accomplish this, I would sell my nitrous bottle and the stuff and probably get like 200 out of everything.
to go the Nitrous route I would have to:
- Sell all my turbo stuff and use that money for
-New Soleniods 75 Wet Shot
-New Line
-Dual Purge setup
-Z3 or F1 fenders to blow the purge out of :iceslolan.
The first way I would have to spend about 2-4 hundred dollars, getting all the stuff I need. But when you think about it...it's Freaking TURBO!!!!
The second way is by far easier, b/c I am confident in myself and my knowledge to install this myself and still feel like a badass, plus It's Freaking NITROUS!!
Keep in mind, for this equation, this is a daily driver. I drive this car to school and work (60 miles roundtrip a day), and it is all that I have, so I can't have it sit in the shop for a week to get stuff put on it...
This is what my mind is aruging with myself... Nitrous isn't on all the time, it's only on during "GO GO GO" situations, and turbo is always active, more than sometimes obviously if you're gun ho-ing it, but none-the-less... In this situation, what would you do?!?!?

thought about it, for about 2 seconds, then I realized that I like my engine, and it hasn't done anything bad to me, so why would I kill it? lol.
what did you base your Nitrous decision on.... I forgot to ask that part.

It's a tough call, only because your money is/will be tight. But I still say a turbo would be way more satisfying, plus just imagine the BOV going off from a 2.2 Cavy!

 pretty funny, they're just jealous that's what I said, lol. One drives an Eclipse NOT GT, one drives a Jetta, and the other drives a probe...so they don't have much room to talk...they'd all eat my dust...assuming I had turbo, otherwise...well, it might be close, lol.
oh and one did drive a Z28, oh so nice....too bad he totaled it last week. Now he's driving his ranger :) lol

B0057 4 L1f3! But if you cant afford for it to be in a shop, which unless you reprogram your ecu and stuff then it probabley will be many times, then I guess youd be left with the Nitrous. I dont like nitrous cuz its really to unpredictable unless you have applied it many times or have a engine built for it. And since its a daily driver, it would seem like it would be awhile before you got to apply it the however many times it takes. I guess the same could be said for the turbo, but w/ the turbo, its being forced everyday, rather than once a week.

so lets see...3 turbos 0 nitrous...hmmm, jake why do you say turbo. and Lance, is that your final answer is b/c of the amazing blow off? lol

i chose turbo cuz you already have most of the parts, and with a turbo you dont have pay to refill it, you mentioned the nos is only there in go go situations and the turbo is always there, with the turbo, as long as you dont go into boost (you'd need a boost guage) it'd be the same as stock as far as gas milage/engine reliability goes, im just guessing it'd be ALOT easier to fuck up an engine with nos, as opposed to a turbocharger

yeah I see what you mean. I already have a boost gauge too...lol I just...I dunno I guess I'm afraid to do turbo b/c I don't exactly know how everything is going to work, and I'm afraid I'll just do something wrong and mess up my car....I understand the turbo process...like how it works, and what goes where to make it run...I just...I dunno, lol. I would have to guess where my downpipe would have to be, and then have a shop make one for me...b/c I can't exactly drive it in there and say make a downpipe to my turbo...obviously b/c It wouldn't run without it, lol. either that, or I could have my buddy with a trailer haul it there and have them do that then we'll haul it back...and finish messing with it... I dunno i'm so confused, lol.
I probably just end up going with turbo...everybody is saying do it, and I cave in easy, lol. I'll sell my nitrous to my buddy, or on ebay. and use that money plus alot more to do turbo...there you won! lol.
I just wanted to like roll up on someone and they give me that look as if to say "lets go" and then I just purge my line out my fender and it rolls right up onto their hood...just to see his mouth drop, and me go flying by him...I'm sorry this is the kind of stuff I dream about at night....b/c i'm a super-loser and have nothing better to do, lol.

Idk much about turbo's but don't you have to get your car tuned after you install one? Like either by a race shop or with HpTuners?
You should PM Cody if he doesn't reply to this.

Yes you have to get it retuned, but its a good investment. Especially hptuners. But if you dont have the money for that, then the gm reflash would work, I dunno bout your model tho. BUt that reminds me, i've heard that if you get the reflash, then you cant use hptuners after that? Anyone feel like validating that?

I have absolutly no idea what you're talking about...hptuners and flashing and reflashing....perhaps I should look into that, lol.
Lances133
10-22-2006, 02:59 PM
Hptuners is a program you buy for your laptop or computer? I guess if you have a long enough cord and then you plug it into your car and that's how you can tune your own car yourself however you want to. You have to do this when you install a turbo, OR you can take it to a local raceshop or like Mr.Roboto said take it to a GM dealer and get it "reflashed"
