For the first mile or two, the inst panel icon for oil pressure stays on; then goes off and stays off. Oil is 'FULL" It is a 2001 TC Touring. Dealer wants to replace sensor. Car has 23000 Mi. No other problem. Is it worth $150 or more to fix or is this likely "no problem"

if you are not burning/leaking any oil, then yeah i would say the car is ok. and if the car isn't running funny or anything then i would say you are ok. but in the long run, when you get the car inspected, it won't pass. from what i understand the oil warning light usually goes on when the car is low on 2 quarts of oil. so if you are sure its full, then you are fine. however, that light could also mean that the oil pump is going out. but where the car only has 23,000 miles, i doubt that is your problem.
you could also have low oil pressure. check to see how much a compression test would run you. might be your best bet right now. and if you could have this done at a regular mechanic that would also be beneficial. dealers tend to charge you like $100 just to stare at your car. my 95 town car has 193,000 miles and i have NEVER taken it back to the dealer. i do most of the work on it myself now but when i was just learning how to work on cars, i refused to take the car to the dealer any time i had a problem. but thats your call.

You may have to reset it, just look in the manual and see what it says

$150 to replace that sensor is nuts. Buy one yourself, get a smaller shop to put it in for $40, or do it yourself.
Could even be a frayed or disconnected wire touching ground (metal).
