Does anyone know how to remove scratches eg. seen when light is reflected off the surface. They appeared when i tried to remove some masking tape residue.

you could try a scrath removal product like meguiers scratch X.

Just rub VERY GENTLY

What happens if rubbed on too hard? Does it make more noticable scratches?

It shouldn't do as it is a very mild abrasive. But it is better to be safe than sorry.

If you have a scrap piece try it on that first

EDIT: Just tried it on the top of the porsche I brought (clear plastic roof that I'm not using) and it was fine.:)

Try and find NOVUS #2 polish if you can it is excellent and made for plastics. Some hobby shops carry it or contact NOVUS and find out where you can buy it, I highly recommend it.

Tamiya Compound works nicely for scratches and buffing their TS paints, and also works brilliantly on Testors enamels.

this is what ive done in the past with beautiful results. lightly sand the scratch out with 2000 grit sandpaper (tamiya) and then polish out the cloudiness with tamiya compound until it looks brand new. done it a couple times already.. good luck

Go here to the Meguiar's site: http://www.meguiars.com/product_showroom/showproducts_template.cfm?SrcLine=BI

The first item you see, Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Polish, is the best stuff that I've used for windows. Polishes the glass to a clear, realistic shine.
