Fuel Injection Cleaners

Has anyone used these and seen good results? I was just trying to get some input so I dont waste a couple of dollars on something that aint gonna do much.

Generally, the detergent package the oil companies put in their gas should be sufficient enough to keep your fuel system, including the injectors clean. But there are times where you may need to add a supplement, such as when the vehicle sits for a period of time and the fuel gets old and varnish and deposits start to accumulate. If you do decide to use a fuel injection cleaner make sure you do not put it in an empty tank. It is a good idea to put it in at the gas station just before you add fuel, or add it to a nearly full tank. Putting the cleaner in a nearly empty tank may cause problems over time because fuel injected vehicles use an electric fuel pump in the tank. The pump passes the fuel through the pump windings to cool the pump. The fuel cleaner can eat the varnish insulation off the fuel pump armature windings and damage the pump, or rendering it useless. The cleaners put in the fuel by the refineries is in small amounts where it won't affect the fuel pump, whereas the cleaner in the bottle is much more concentrated, and needs to be diluted.
I've had good luck using Lucas brand fuel injection cleaner , and also have had good results with BG brand fuel cleaner. the Lucas brand is more readily available at retail auto parts stores, and is cheaper. The BG is harder to find as it is only generally available at repair shops that feature their products, and is reccomended by BG to be used by trained technicians.

I've never had much luck with most additive type cleaners, although Chevron Techron does seem to make more difference than anything else. I've also had less than satisfactory results with the Motor-Vac type pressurized on-car injector cleaning (long story, bad experience). The best fuel injector cleaner I've used can be found here:
