I have a tap in my belt fan on my 95 town car and i have had it off many times before and it is still tapping. i thought it was a bearing on the water pump but i replaced the water pump and the fan still taps. any suggestions?

Disconnect the belt spin the idler bearing if it makes much noise replace it. Auto Zone and Advance sell new idler bearings. Spin the alternator they can have bad bearings. Then check the power steering pulley for noise. Air cond clutchs can make noise.
Normally it is the idler bearing on the tensioner. If the bearing is bad it is noticable.

i had a feeling that it is probably a bearing. i know that the water pump and the AC clutch is new so i am almost positive that it is either the idler bearing on the tensioner or the the power steering pulley. i'll check it out and let you know how i make out. the car only does it when the engine is warmed up, not when it is cold, which makes me think it is probably the tensioner.
