If you don't have an external mic hooked up and if your minicam doesn't have one built in, you're not gonna have any sound

no mic = no sound

Go to the control panel. Somewhere in there should be the minicam. If there is no tab for "Volume", "Volume Out", "Microphone" or something like that, then you can bet theres no mic in it. Most minicams I've seen don't have a built in mic. Just buy an external mic, you should be able to get one for like $20

And if you know you're typing in all caps, why don't you just turn off caps lock? :shakehead

if I can recall correctly.... windows messenger when first installed should have ran an audio check for microphone and speaker output... check the back of your computer to see if you have a mic input jack available and if a jack is installed, that is if it's a desktop. Most laptops thaat I have already have a mic on the keyboard top. Hope this helps

No problema mang  The whole mic thing should be pretty straight forward. I'm assuming there isn't one available. If there is one on your cam, then it should juct be a matter of raising the volume output. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the software.

If you buy an external mic and you're running XP it should prompt you to start the install wizard as soon as it recognizes new hardware.

Thanks for the reply man
when she goes to update the messenger it will not let her why ?

this is what it tells us when i try to send her a voice message

"Amanda is using a version of Messenger that does not support Voice Clips."

They introduce a new version of msn messenger like every week so I don't know what the new version is or what features it has. I do know that the version I have (4.7) supports video and audio messaging. But I've never tried to use the audio, so idk how it really works.

Has she tried to just download messenger all over again instead of trying to update her current one? When I tried to view my friends webcam she got a message saying the same thing. I downloaded msn again and it worked.

You have to go into the control panel and select the logitech mic as the computers default mic, or it will try to use your sound card for mic support

To do this you have to go into the control panel, select sounds and audio, click audio and on the bar that says mic, you have to change it and tell it to use the camera mic. The one in the camera will work a lot better than any stand mic that costs less than 30 bucks. good luck.

Did you actually read the whole thead before posting hotrod_chevyz (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=260330)?

He bought a new mic and the problem is fixed.

Yeah i read all that. I was simply telling him how to go in and set up a MIC inside his control panel, wich i didnt really see anybody tell him. He said the mic he had wasnt working properly, wich led me to believe he had one already, and maybe it wasnt set up right. If hes using a logitech cam they almost always have a built in mic with advanced settings available from the control panel, and usually are better quality than the cheap ones you will find on a shelf at the store.

I am using a web cam logitech

Those almost always have a built in mic, when loading if you tell it to set it up later, you have to go in the control panel to set it up.

I KNOW THAT MY QUESTION IS HOW DO I CHECK ??

Why is this still up for debate? The problem was solved a week ago. Lets let it die please.

Can we get a sneeze here?
