I just picked me up a 98 GTP....I paid 6500 dollars for it and has 75000 miles on it...The dealer I got it from was the same dealer from original owner...1 owner car...no mods, the owner was the dealers accountant...some old dude...I just washed it and I will get pics tomorrow...
I got to get exhaust and cai to open this thing up...It runs really strong but I think my Jeep can take it to 60, but who knows...might take both of them to the track Sunday...

If your Jeep can out run this car then you have some major problems. Unless you have a good idea about how the car was taken care of I would change the plugs and wires, oil, air cleaner, fuel filter, trans filter and etc. Even though it is relatively low mileage it may be suffering from a lack of maintenance. Most stock GTP's will run high 14's with no mods. I don't know how fast a 4.7 Jeep does the quarter but I don't think it is 14 second material.

well the jeep i beleive some have superchargers and there is a 5.7 the one that does gos 0-60 in under 5 seconds, and that is faster than a gtp,but if he doesnt have that one then there is no way it will keep up with a gtp.

His doesn't have the Hemi which I believe would outrun the GTP if it is stock but the 4.7 is normally aspirated and doesn't have anywhere near the power of the Hemi even with the mods he has made. I guess we can wait to see what numbers he turns when he gets to the track and races them.

then your right.

Even the hemi jeep wouldn't outrun him. 0-60 in those is 7.0sec. Now if it's the SRT-8 Jeep, say goodbye. 425hp, 0-60 in under 5 sec.
Yes, your GTP should blow the doors off the jeep. Make sure u run premium fuel.

I went to the National Trail Raceway on Sunday for test and tune and guess what? Me along with alot of other ppl were left sitting outside the gate for over an hour....They didnt open due to weather....weather was fine just little windy, but all the rain had gone...I will go this Sunday for the last test and tune of the season....PLEASE MOTHER NATURE, I NEED THIS....
Anyway, my brother-in-law drove mt GTP and I took the Jeep...Since we were left with no track times I took us to a road by my house and we did 2 runs from a dig....My Jeep took the GTP off the line both times and I held a 2 car lead till about 60 when he started to gain....I know the GTP should be able to kill my Jeep, but we wont know until Sunday....
My Jeep is no slouch, it runs real strong for a 4000 lb. brick...I have surprised many ppl in it....
I also gutted my back seat, spare tire and jack, and I took my 50lb receiver off...I hope it helps....

As far as maintenance, I bought the car from the dealership that originally sold it and the only owner was that dealerships accountant...I talked to her and she said she always ran premiun and had all regular maintenance performed at the dealership. She was an older woman that worked there so thats really what sold me to be honest. I will park it through most of the winter and go ahead and change everything while I get to know my new toy.
I have always wanted a GTP. Ever since 97...and trust me as much as I love my Jeep I want my GTP to be my sleeper...I guess 2 sleepers is better than 1....

I am a member of JeepsUnlimited Speed freaks forum and from what I understand with w/r and my mods I have a chance at seeing high 14's to low 15's under great conditions...I am sure its wishful thinking but I wont know till Sunday....I will be shocked to get high 14's.

The 4 wd and the gearing in the Jeep will give you an off the line advantage. However, once you hit top end the GTP should walk all over the Jeep. Also, my stone stock 97 GTP ran 14.94 at the strip with my son driving.

LOL, you were right. The Jeep has been my D/D for a long time so I guess I though I could get it down faster, but I am now fully aware that there is nothing like boost...

You know Lynn it is nice to hear we have a happy and satisfied GP owner. However, I wouldn't mind having the Jeep for off-roading. Sure beats the Chevy and Ford counterparts. And just think after over 8 years of owning a GTP I came so close to trading it for a GTO (Goat). That would have been a big mistake. The new retro Challenger may be a different story though since I owned a '70 Challenger R/T with a 440 Magnum back in the old days. :crying:

I always said that when my Jeep gets to 100,000 miles I would turn into an offroad Jeep. It has never been off any kinda road..bout 46,000 miles to go..
Actually , thinking about it now, I might make it happen sooner now that I have the GTP to take the load off the Jeep as far as miles...Maybe 95,000 miles instead of 100,00 miles...lol
