Electrical Gas Gauge?

So when i go up and down hills, my gas gauge goes either up or down accordingly, never giving me a true estimate of just how much gas i've got left in the car. Is there any way to install an electrical gague in there, so that the gas needle doesn't fluctuate? Or maybe a little onboard computer thing like in so many other cars that tells distance till empty, MPG, etc?

not very many people on here actually use their gas gauge. most of us know how many miles we get to the tank and then look at the trip odometer to figure out how much further we can go. its the free and easy way of doing what you want to pay someone money to do for you. learn your car and you can overcome these little obstacles.

yeah, i calculate mileage and i know when to fill up, it just annoys me that the gague fluctuates...

I don't think that's it. I beleive that it is the sensor in your gas tank that is moving side to side or front to back. It just goes to a different height so it gets a different reading. Kind of like if you go sharply around a turn it shows that you lost like half a tank of gas but when you straighten amazingly you get that gas back.
I'd be more worried about watching that radar detector for cops.

There's also the fuel lamp that comes on if you are out of gasoline. For some odd reason, my fuel gauge needle snapped off few weekends ago and right now all I do is just go by the milage. I usually get about 325 miles per full tank so it's not much of a problem. It's just annoying.

Exactly, its just annoying.
And damn! 325! I only get about 270 nowadays because i dont have to drive through hills to get to school anymore. i do a lot of freeway driving now...which is better. But damn, 325!
