engine knocking

Hello all... I've been on here for awhile now, but have never had a reason to post. I do have a problem now though. My 95 G20 is starting to knock. It does this when the rpm's are on the rise. I've been told that it could be due to the cheap gas that my wife's been putting in it, or it could be as bad as a bad lifter. I added octane booster about 20 miles ago, so I cannot know yet if that cleared it up. How hard is it to change the lifters? Could it be something else? I'm sure that this has happend to others before, so could someone please shed some light on it for me. Thanks in advance, Dennis.

Could you elaborate a little more?
There are several things which could cause the sound. Start with the easy ones: have you checked your drive belts recently? Do you have air conditioning activated when this occurs? how many miles has the car done.
Filters are dead easy to change (well, apart from the oil filter anyway), but I doubt this'll cause a knocking. Either one of your ancilery components are going out, or you've got an engine problem (broken valve, cam, etc).

yah, the knocking may be caused by lower octane gas and/or ur ignition timing. when is the last time that u did a tune up for ur car? maybe u should do a tune up and have them check ur timing.
