Which Polish??

Ok, I have built about 3 models.. I have a few projects going on. I am now starting to learn the airbrush alot better, and I am spraying acyrlics. I want to get serious about the polishing now to get that awsome shine all of you get!

I want to know what your opinions are on the 3 compounds offered by Tamiya? Are they that great?

I have heard alot of people use scratch x. It sounds like it is a great polish?

Just have those couple questions, and also how do you guys get such a great gloss on the cars? I have read the painting faq a bunch, and have searched, but just wanted to know if you have any secrets or is it just practice, practice, and practice? Well thanks again.

It's totally practice, practice, practice. No one set of tools or techniques are going to work best for everyone. You need to put in the experince and practice to find out what works best for you and your techniques.

Lately, I use CobraColors laquer clear sprayed thinned 1 to 1, in a gravity feed airbrush spraying no more than 15 PSI- goes on smoother than anything else I've ever seen- no orange peel. I rub back the surface with Tamiya course, then use ScratchX, and finish with Tamiya finish and Zymol wax. I've gotten the three best paint jobs I've ever done this way. I may be done with Micromesh forever!!

But your milage may vary. It's taken me a couple of years to learn to do it this way and get it right. What works for you may be something completely different.

No matter how much stuff you buy, you'll have to learn how to use it. last model I used humbrol enamels, micromesh and fine and finish polishing compound from tamiya and finish it with tamiya wax. It's the best paintjob I ever did, but this is by no means THE right way to do things. Just experiment. Learn from the FAQ, try some things and just develop you're own methode.
