what year

my q is about the year of my truckwas told its a 98 buy parts for a 98 but the badgeing is silverado and my regpaper and ins papers say 98. BUT every where i have looked and every thing i can find say that the silverado's dint start till 99 so what year is it? this might help me with my other problems

Look at the vin on the dash top l/s, 98 is a W.

In 98 you could buy a C1500 or a K1500 with the Silverado trim package (and several years before that).

After 98 you could buy a Silverado 1500. They just sorta expanded the use of the name.
