Evo VIII brakes

has anyone read the december issue of turbo magazine, cuz it features a 02 rs turboed, and it says

"The FWD 4g64 trans bolts perfectly to the Evolution motor. "Its basically a direct swap with minimal fabrication. Who knew? The motor looks like it should belong there," Paul says. The Mitsubishi engineers couldnt slip this one by Devo Tuning. They made the Eclipse and the Evolution almost interchangeable. Even the Evo VIII Brembo brakes bolted up without fabrication."

this true?

yes it is true... you didn't know this?

people have been doing the brakes for a while. nicely enough, mitsu finally started doing something easy on the engineers and the tuners. random engines swap in, various transmissions can be used. they've been doing similar things for a while, but recently they've gotten really good. i'm looking forward to the 6g74 swap... i'm actually VERY excited...

now as far as putting the 4g63 in there? they are stupid. just put the head on the 4g64 and you've got a 2.4l turbo motor. dumbasses, they coulda had more displacement and built a more powerful motor while they were at it.

just fyi, evo guys are fairly proud of everything that comes off their cars so try to find a good deal and dont' assume every setup is going for 600$

also an eclipse fed spec GT brake swap is another possibility and especially in exchange for those rear drums on the GS/RS eclipses.

i'll also check for that article and read it though, sounds intriguing.

i knew about the engine and that but i didnt realize they went as far as the brakes matchin up. i might have to look into that and get rid of my drums.

The Evo brakes are a direct swap. Just bolt them up and go (make sure your wheels will clear, Evo 8 wheels work). If you're gonna go through with the swap the only thing you have to do besides bolt the calipers and lines up is remove the rear dust sheilds by breaking the rivets with a screwdriver and hammer or something. I have the Evo brakes on my car and it was one of the easiest things to do on the car. Also one of the most rewarding.
