Clunking sound in Metro rear end question

Hi,
This is hard to explain, but I'll do my best. First of all, I have a 1994 Metro. Recently, a clunking sound has started in the back end of the car. I put it up on jacks and gave a thourough visual inspection, but can't see anything wrong. It makes a clunk sound as soon as I let out the clutch and it moves forward or reverse. It seems to just do it when I'm driving very slow. I actually had my wife drive slow while I hung out the hatch so I could try and get an idea where the knock is coming from. It seems like it might be coming from inside the drivers side rear wheel hub, but I haven't taken that apart yet. Does anyone have an idea what this might be? Thanks.

I was hearing something as you've described but on the passenger rear when I got the car last month. I typically drive alone so it was difficult to find while driving. I found the rear seatbelt swinging and knocking on the side panel... and the muffler moving far enough for the tailpipe to hit the lower bumper

I believe I found the problem. It appears my rear brake cylinder started leaking, and got everything wet inside the hub, which includes the brake pads. I think it was causing the brake pad to kind of hang up just enough that when I would start out from a stop, the clunk sound was the pad popping lose, or something to that affect.
Thanks for the reply. I'll make sure to watch for the things you mentioned.
