VERY pissed off

I have a 2001 cavalier and ive owned it for 2 years...i have had nothing but problems with it...now i would like to know what the possibilty to ANOTHER problem im having with it..i had a stereo system installed in it when i first bought it..no problems with it whatsoever now all of a sudden it decides it wants to shut down...now i dont get any sound and the face plate doesnt power up, but i know the deck is getting power because it still ejects the cd and sucks one in when i try to put a cd in..i had taken it to a guy to get it fixed and he did so...but just today again (not even a week from it being fixed) its gone out again..i would like to know what the problem is because i am just about ready to put a for sale sign on it..only i cant sell a car that has no stereo:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Sounds like the problem is with the stereo, not the car. Could be that whoever installed it didn't do it properly. Or it could be something else. No way to tell without taking the installation apart to see if it's installed properly. Sounds like your car is a lemon, most people have very few problems with Cavaliers.

it might be the face plate connector.. i know sometimes my faceplate doesnt seat properly with the radio so it doesnt get proper power to it.. But my cd eject and load still work as it doesnt need the faceplace to work.

I'll bet thats what the problem is.. try wiggling the faceplate see if it comes on..

or take it back to the guy that fixed it, and simply ask him what was wrong with it.

I'd check the faceplate connectors, good instinct phife, lol. Maybe sure they're not like rusted...or missing...or, just make sure they're aligned properly. I had a sony xplod stereo that a friend just gave to me b/c she said it was broke...Turned out the faceplate was off track, so it closed but only on one side, and wasn't making a connection...can anybody say free stereo!...nah i gave it back to her, cuz I'm a gentleman, lol.
