my brother gave a gift certificate to ziebart for my birthday to get an alarm installed...i didnt really want it, but it was non-refundable...anyways they installed it wednesday 9/4 and i have had a dead battery both mornings since then so i took it back...my question is i am not extremely knowledgable about car batteries specifically, but should i argue with him when he says the alarm is fine my battery is just a peice of shit....i have had the battery for 2 years and never had a problem....thanks alot for the advice

Hell yea argue it! Don't take big businesse's shit.
This isnt some coincidence. What kind of alarm did you get installed? where there a lot of peripherals? You could also get a small battery installed that your alarm could run off of seperately. That way your car would start. And if then the alarm dies. Then its something with the alarm.
Car alarms a very tricky. Demand your money back in cash and get the alarm installed elswhere.

The installer dude probably hooked a relay wrong - and it's drawing constant current, whether the car is on or off. I know, cuz I made that mistake one time .... it ruined at least one battery.

well they are definately bastards.....i had the car jumped both mornings fine, after they had it for the morning they tell me "yeah that battery is junk we cant even jump it, but we can give ya this new one for a steal at $55" ...so after bitching for awhile, i put the damn thing in...they put me in a position where i didnt have much of a choice....hopefully the alarm was fucked up and they noticed and fixed it and are just not admitting it...i guess i will find out tomorrow morning when i try to start the car :)

No they arent. They are only tricky when you dont know what the fuck youre doing. In that case you have no reason to be messing with it anyway. (sorry, im just venting from my work stress. I hate fixing or having to work around fucking riceboy installs)
In regards to the question, did you get a battery backup with your alarm? they are commonly known to cause battery problems. They use a resistor to charge the backup battery. If the resistor goes bad or the value of the resistor changes then you can be left with the problems that you are experiencing.

Definatly Viper. I've got a Viper 550ESP and I love it.
I'm gonna get a new alarm though. A Viper 600.
Can't go wrong with DEI!

Agreed, pretty much all DEI products rock.
If you can get clifford before DEI took them over, then those are even better, but good luck finding somewhere that can sell/install them so you'll still have all the warranty stuff.
