Heating Problem

Hello,
I have a '92 4x4 automatic that's having heating problems. The heat in the cab always blows cold but the armrest heat does warm up. I checked the radiator hoses and the lower one stays cold. Is it possible the thermostat is not opening?
It's getting cold here in Michigan and I need some heat. Please help.
