E30 auto rad query

Hi guys, having a bit of anightmare with my radiator at the moment. I've got an E30 3.25i auto and I need to replace the rad. I got a rec-con one delivered but when I went to fit it the connections from the gearbox were different. Completely different! My connection are made through a hollow brass bolt which the pipe is attached to and then screwed against the base of the rad. Am I going to have to change the pipes to the gearbox ? I spoke to the guy who I got the rad from and he thought they were all the same. Can anybody help ?
