I can't stand that guy, he is so anti anything to do with America. It gets old real fast and makes it hard to consider someone so bigoted as a specialist in there field... Especially when they hold the nation of origin as a leading factor of there opinion of a auto.

Well I went for a ride and we went before he got off of work. All I have to say besided needing grease to get my fat ass in there. That thing is crazy fast. We went like a block away from the hospital and hit 80mph. He was spinning in first second and chiped third. I want that engine in my maro. I think I had a lil accident in my pants and it was not a shit stain either...lol.
Very nice ride.
Vett FTW....

Edit. I might go for another ride with him on tuesday. Will have my camera for sure then...

My only problem is the price of that motor.
You can have a fully built 402 LSx for less.

Yeah, the LS7 crate from GM is ~$14K. But I also noticed that the LS1 crate is around $8K, but the LS2 is around 6K. What's up with that?

Mr. Luos
10-14-2006, 10:45 PM
LS1 is probably in more demand. Or at least was.
It isn't put in any cars anymore...so that might be it as well.

14grand is alot of money just for an engine. I bet there is not even 5grand of parts in the dang thing. I would take a LSx for the price difference for sure

Dude was complaining about road noise, the nav radio, the speakers, and the rough ride??? It's a freakin' supercar that out preforms most euro cars that cost more than double, who cares about feeling the bumps in the road and a little noise?

The guy's a tool plain and simple. He did seem astonished that it outhandled that zonda, but then again he said the Z06's handling was unsophisticated.

I thought his fat ass would love the fast food feature.

Oh, well I'm done with that rant. I'm so jelaous gold, you've gotta get a video of that thing.

they make more than that. i saw one on the dyno at the carlisle corvette show. it was bone stock and made 468hp on the first pull and 471hp on the second. nothing like the sound of an LS7 at 7,000rpm:evillol: .

There is more than $5K in that motor...trust me. :grinyes:
It is an incredible motor. Plain and simple.
But GM does want a bunch for the crate motor. Worth it??? Depends on the application.

My 402 makes roughly 625 flywheel horse. Which is what it would be rated at in a new car.
I am the same compression, and LSx. But that is about it.
The LS7 is a motor that will pass emissions, doesn't have a big cam for the cubes, etc.
Like I said...it all depends on how you want to go about building the car it goes into.
Good exhaust will open that 427 up nicely. Probably come close to 540-550 flywheel with longtubes and exhaust.

Mean motor that really sounds fairly tame. Not a loud motor (valvetrain wise) really, and it would be very reliable.

I built mine to make it streetable but still have a good lope and make good power.
Once guys start dropping big cams in those LS7's watch out!!!! :evillol:

tuesday i am going for another ride, I will get vids

there are already zo6's making 700hp on the motor using a cam & boltons. HPE makes a cam package for like $900. then you have companies like sts and lingenfelter with zo6's making 1000+hp with twin turbos. the things that money can buy.

That guy is a COMPLETE douche bag. "This is an astonishing vehicle..." "It's faster than.... on the track", but it's an American piece of shit because he doesn't like the radio and the "seat is on the wrong side". That pussy can't admit that it's actually a damned good car. I'd like to see him pay an extra $100k for a Ferrarri whose main difference from the Z06 is the nav system / radio, and the less expensive vehicle is faster and handles better... What a retard.

He is anti anything American.

in Britain, when it comes to cars, just about everyone is anti-american. i'm not going to go on about handling and fuel efficiency (or the lack of it)

i like american car, admittedly a limited selection of them. but most of the time when i talk about the handling of them, i'm joking. i don't really care about that handling of some vehicles, like the F-150 i want, i don't care about handling because i'm not going to go throwing it around some race track, racing on the edge.

I can understand not fully appreciating certain vehicles and can understand not liking the typical auto from a certain country of origin but to so matter of factly express your bias from someone who is suppose to offer a third party real world perspective is unprofessional.

It would be like me saying a supra can't make power cause its country of origin is Japan and the Civic comes from there and they aren't all that powerful (just pulling a example out of my ass, I know there are quick civics out there).

2.2 Straight six

i know, i think the main problem with some car journalists and critics is that they drive so many top-end cars and supercars that they get used to it. and if they're in something that doesn't cost as much, and doesn't have the same specification then that's below their standards, it's like building up a tolerance to something.

i've been in 3 Z06s, a stock on, an 850bhp blown one and a full-on blown 572-powered one. and with the exception of the last, they all handled very well, we didn't go on a track but my friend pushed them to the limit and they held well.

the reason the third didn't handle too well was weight, it was set up for drag racing and a twin-turbo 2,000bhp engine doesn't allow you too much grip in the bend.

(in thurth, they weren't three different cars, it was the same one but the owner had it "evolved" to pursue his drag racing desires.)

FormulaLT1
10-18-2006, 09:33 PM
Well the handling for there time frame on C4 - C6 has been right up there in skid pad numbers with most of the German built exotics. So to me its just bias when someone says something like American cars can't handle or that the prior models didn't handle well. Just take a look at the skid numbers on the ZR1 C4's and then tell me that car can't handle.

Sure the refined feel of the exotics is awesome to have a car that will deliver awesome performance on the track as well as give you a comfortable ride home. Its the best of both worlds but to be honest I prefer the more raw feel of true american muscle.

It would be like comparing riding a wild stallion verse a race horse who was trained for someone being on his back. It all about one's preference and thats where someone should not be influencing the consumer with there own idea of what they want.

Why are all you getting pissy because a guy who has driven some of the best cars in the world said that the ZO6 isn't as refined as a ferrari. He only speaks the truth.

Well... he is a jackass. If you can't tell that he can't honestly say the he likes the car and that Chevy has a nice product with a few minor flaws just because he used to driving cars like Bugatti's and Ferrari's then I can't help you.

Listen to it. All he talks about is how great it is in terms of brute force, but how it sucks handling and it's accoutrements are substandard (or however the hell you spell that). It out performed his precious ferrari (and many others) on the course and drag strip... if it out performed the ferrari on the road course how in the hell can it's handling be substandard? (Use your head kid!)

Personally, I think he's miffed that the Americans built a car that out performs MOST supercars and sell it for 30% - 38% of what the supercars are selling for... which makes everyone who pays $160K - $200K for a car (people that he admires and therefore is one of) that doesn't perform as well look like a bunch of egotistical, spoiled brats.

(And by the way... you haven't seen pissy, I'm just discussing what this jackass said.)

I'd like to see what he said about the Ford GT40 or GT50 or whatever the hell it's called. Anyone got a link to that, if he did it?

I'd be pissed if I spent that much money and the car had those kind of problems too, so I sort of feel bad for him. I would genuinely feel bad if he wasn't so opinionated and so willing to share. Like Nate said... Maybe if we were 20 minutes later entering WWII he wouldn't be here. Prick.

LMMFAO! I wonder how close to the truth that might actually be. A person goes into a situation with a preconception, and invariably, they will make that come true. If the same thing happened on a Lambo he might dismiss it as "An annoying little electrical gremlin" but since he wants to bash, it becomes a "major flaw" in the vehicle design.
