Rev Counter Computer LCD backlight ???

Hi, The LCD computer display on the rev counter of my 993 has gone black with white writing! Can hardly see it in normal daylight. I assuming the backlight bulb has burnt out? Anyone know about this phenomina or how to change the bulb, looks impossible to get acess to the rear of the rev counter without taking the dash to bits?! Any help gratefully received
