Me and a buddy have been looking and looking for the longest time and cant find anything about it. Does anyone know where to find out about what it takes to get the 6a13 into a 3gGS. I can get the motor and tranny outta canada for under 1500usd just wonding if any one knows anything about this swap????

fairly worthless.
i assume that it is the mivec 2.0 out of a FTO ??
if that is correct, you'll need new motor mounts in the proper positions, ECU,axles, maybe even hubs if the hub side doesn't match up, and you'll need every accessory.
let's just say it isn't feasible or cost effective
just turbo that thing.

"i assume that it is the mivec 2.0 out of a FTO ??"
Well I guess you know alittle about mitsubishi engines but no the 6a13 is out of a Gen8 VR4 Galant. Rated around 276hp It was a mivec but its a 2.5L Twin Intercooled twin turbo. So with that knowlege do you still think the swap is a bad idea? I'm still pondering the idea.

yes, i do. doesn't mean it is undo-able but it will require more work than most owners want to put in.
i assume you have a reliable car to drive around everyday?
first of all, you must consider what parts do you need?
second, what parts am i going to have to replace as routine maintenance for this vehicle. more difficult parts would be pieces of the vehicles ignition system, random relays etc.
next thing is, what driveline components am i going to have to get to match? your stock axles most likely will not match the axles the transmission needs, then your hubs will have to be changed as well. now if you have a bad hub or bearing within the hub, you need to be able to get extras fairly readily.
next thing is, if you are modifying it, where are you getting your parts and can you read japanese? many performance parts for the project are going to come straight from japan or other foreign country where first, shipping is not cheap.
next, when the engine needs rebuilt, where are you going to get the necessary components?
Are you prepared to entirely rewire the vehicle so that the new ECU will know what to do when you flip the headlight switch on, many of the features on the eclipse are integrated with other parts where you are going to need to bypass, or entirely rewire the vehicle.
next, do you plan on the vehicle being street legal and driven or do you plan on making it a pure drag/weekend car. odds are it won't even see day light until 2008, and even then you may only be half done.
now, if you are going to do all-wheel drive, where are you going to run the rear driveshaft? do you need to mount a center differential??
Where are you going to put the fuel tank?
what hubs will you need for the rear??
now, what if the engine isn't up to par?? i'd go ahead and rebuild it before you drop it in anyway, just because it is easier, but do you know anyone with the knowledge of mivec and the ability to put that engine together??
are you going to try it yourself??
how are you going to get around the state and federal vehicle laws? technically, in missouri at least, that swap would be considered illegal, so do you have a person that can give you a passing inspection ??
who's going to make the rear driveshaft if the 8g galant's won't fit.
you might as well import a whole 8g galant to pull parts off of while you are doing the swap as you would probably be able to complete it more readily and you will have a point of reference for how everything should look.
now, i want you to weigh the cost effectiveness of that, or just turbo-charging the 4g64 that is already in the car and finding an evo drivetrain to make it AWD. i assume that's what you would do, but the 4g64 is built very well and many things can be done with it for a much better cost, and you will see higher performance out of it as well. yes, it is only 4 cylinders, but it a bored out 4g63 and can hold a fair amount of boost unbuilt, and when you build it, the sky is the limit. AMSS took a 4g64 w/ a 4g63 evo DOHC head, built it, and they have a (last i heard) 900whp AWD EVO that is driven on the street. that is effectively a 8-10 second car depending on how it is driven.
Also a company is making a flashing program for tuning our computers in the 3g eclipses both 4 and 6 cyl so that you can tune it on the spot whereas i have no clue on how easy the 6a13's computer is to tune.
that 4g64 block is the same thing that comes out of the 3g eclipse GS and RS models. now, i've not heard, but what kind of performance can you see out of the 6a13 engine built and unbuilt??
next are you only using this for a show car??
now, do you actualy have 10-30k $$ to throw around like that? or are you wasting my time??

Hi thank you for such a lengthly yet informative answer. Now to answer some of those questions this idea has been goin on for about a year or so.
I've been doing custom auto work since I was 8. I'm a Mainer not much else to do. Your right there are some things that I havent thought fully about.
I know that a project of this calliber would take time, money, and some careful planning. Ok now in now way am I some weathy guy looking to just throw money around but, I save thousands of $$$ in customization that most people spend just because I have full access to a garage and a few guys that are willing to join me in the venture. Yes Comstom Drive shafts, axels everything they do it. All I would have to pay is materials.
Now our laws here in maine are easy to get around expecially in Northern Maine where alot of people go to canada to get their cars repaired. Most of the Inspection Garages around here dont even hook our cars up to check codes. Lights work, Horn works, basic safety things work, they dont give us a hard time. Got a friend with an RB20 powered S14 not a cop or garage ask us to pop our hoods. Just no FARTPIPES.
I've been to a place in New Brunswick Canada over east that imports cars and clips I've talked to the guys and I can get the whole front clip for a Grand more than just the Motor and Tranny so thats the way I'm probably going.
Ok Now on your idea of using the 4G like I said Im from maine not much else to do during the winter except work on motors hanging off a set of chains. I have a gen 1 GSX I know what the motor is capable of I've blown and cracked, more 4G's just for fun than I'd care to admit. I've put 4g Turbos into Neons & Mirages. I've even been part of a 4g turbo going into a 1990Mitsubishi L200 "Mini truck". I've gotten board with them. If you say 6g I'll scream more idiots wanna shove a v6 from the 3000gt/stealth into their ecliipes than I care to talk about. I need something different. I'm about to buy the Conquest down the road just to have a change.

conquests are nice :D
you'll definitely need to go the extra mile if you do this, you can't take shortcuts and you can't leave things half done or things you'll need to replace later. better to do it once than when you don't have time to do it again.
if you think it is possible, do it, but as far as technical knowledge on the subject i'm practically a dunce. i do know that it takes much more to do a direct engine swap that previously indicated, and i kno that a custom engine swap is going to be that much worse. i just want you to know about the year or so's heartache of not having the car running.
glad you kno a little about the 4g6x series motors. i happen to love them, but that's just cuz they are relatively easy compared to my 6g7x.
the next person that wants to drop a 6g7x into their 4cyl eclipse, i'm going to mame, but i'm planning on a built 6g74 dropping in there at some point, so i can't say i'm that much better. i just like fooling people and doing things that appear normal at first glance, but are so much more when you look again. 3.5l *should* drop right in a v6 eclipse, but again, this galant was supposed to take a weekend when i started it this
spring. guess what season it is now.
6a13 sounds nice though, and if you can get it done, i'd love to at least see some pictures, track times, and street stories.

The 6g7x series motors are great and they can handle alot of upgrades from what I understand people have reached 5-600 whp in their 3000/steath AWD so there is no doubt that that motor is great. And dont get me wrong I LOVE MITSUBIASHI's 4g6x motor its a pure race motor. I'm just looking into being origional. Thats why I blew up my 90civic Si I got tired of seeing every moron in town straping a cold air intake and a fart pipe to a civic and thinking they are tuners. Thats when I aquired my gen 1 GSX. Speaking of the conquest. I went back and looked its a starion so Its on a flat bed to my brothers house "$1500 sold" And yes it runs, terribly, but it runs. It knocks like a banchee. I have alittle knowledge about the star/quest cars except they are fast and RWD and turboed sounds like a future project. The 6a13 idea is just that an Idea until I have some more facts I'm not gonna run out and expect to drop the motor in and have a street machine with-in a weekend. It would be a full winter project.
