Car wont start, the battery and ignition are fine, it cranks, just no fire.
It was acting a bit funny, when I accelerated it occassionaly, would jerk as if it lost power????? does this make sense to anyone?????

Depress the valve in the fuel rail service port and see if there's any fuel there, maybe your fuel pump died...

could possibly be ICM ( ignition control module) or Crank Position sensor. My car was having the same problem and thats what if been told.

Yup - ICM more likely - the jerky thing is a dead give away - can happen with the CPS too, but I've seen more bad ICM's than anything else

Here is what I tried before I read any of the replys, by the way thank you.
I took and sprayed in some starter fluid, the car fired up but only briefly, pressing down on the gas when the car fired, did not help, it just kind of sputtered to a stop. To me this would indicate a fuel pump problem. What do you think?

Your problem is definitely fuel related, but not necessarily the fuel pump. It could be the injectors, no injector pulse signal from the ECM, fuel pump relay or the fuel pressure regulator. First you need to see if you hear the pump prime when the key is turned on, it should cycle on then off after about 2-3 seconds. If you don't hear it come on, the fuel pump, relay or wiring to the pump are the problem. If you do hear the pump prime, check fuel pressure at the rail. It should read 41-47 psi key on/engine off. If lower, the pump or regulator is bad. If fuel pressure is ok, you'll need to check for injector pulse with either a multimeter or noid light. If you're getting injector pulse, the only other thing is bad injectors.
