Late 2002 Tamiya releases

Lancer WRC 2002 spec 1 (new tool)
Skyline R34 GT-R V-spec II (mod. reissue) hood, rear wing stays, Nismo 5 spoke wheels, drilled brake disks.
Yamaha TMAX scooter w/ figure (new tool)
350Z version ST (mod. reissue) front and rear spoiler

1/10 R/C Ferrari Enzo - what a bummer, but this confirms that Tamiya will have the license until sometime next year or even longer.
So, would we see 1/24 plastic in early 2003 or something? I really hope so.

only difference I can see on the GTR is the small bonnet vent (hood vent). Subtle but sweet:flash:

Thanks for the pics & info. I'm going to have to add the EVO to my shopping list :) And it's about time I added a Skyline to the collection :D

Not sure about the 350Z though, apart from that little spoiler and slightly different alloys it's the same as the last kit :(

C:cool:  L!!!!!

The wing stays on that R34 look no different either, but i'm sure its just a prototype.

The Lancer looks beautiful:eek:

On Rainbow 10 they list the Nissan as "350z Track", is this the same one? http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/news/n-release.html

And we can't forget the 2002 Peugeot 206 WRC released this month:)
Anyone have any ideas about what Tamiya may have planned for early 2003?
After all the bad publicity the Airfix Citroen Xsara WRC has got I am hoping/waiting for Tamiya to release one....think they will?

Opps forgot about the Skoda....not really my fav but yeap the more the better, havent built any hasegawa rally cars, r they good, from the photos ive seen im not to keen on the interiors of there kits, i seem to trust tamiya kits a bit more. the next focus should def be gravel spec cause its no match on tarmac.

In Japan Z33 "Fairlady Z" has four grades. Base, Sports, Touring and Sports Touring. The ST has both sports and luxury features, such as Brembo brake system, 18 in wheel, some other performance tuning, plus Bose Audio system (which sounds great by the way) and leather seats.

There's no equivalent designation in the U.S., because there's no Brembo and Bose don't go together, so it's a combination of Tour and Track, I think.

Since, Tamiya kit doesn't have a huge woofer behind the driver seat, so I call it Track. What disappointed me with the 350Z ST is that Tamiya didn't include Rays 18in wheel.

I'm with hrmodeler here, c'mon someone, bring out a Hyundai Accent WRC, the Skoda Octavia is available as a resin kit made by a company called Reji, I have the kit, it lacks a bit of detail and is a bit rough around the edges but if you want a Skoda... It's the next kit that I'm going to build, starting shortly. I'll perhaps do some progress pics with this one so keep watching, and maybe Tamiya will make a Citroen Xsara kit when they enter all rounds of the WRC next year possibly with Colin Mcrae driving for them.

Steve,
I have seen that Skoda resin kit, but it looked rough to me in the photos I saw of the 'raw' kit, so I was not sure about the detail. I look forward to seeing your thread on the building, please do one...
I think with the performance Citroen have shown this year, I think they would deserve to have Tamiya make a kit, after all, look at Mitsu's performance and there is a kit of their car.....just my opinion.....:D

Ray

P.S I even have the Fujimi Renault Megane Grande Britanje kit which I plan on turning into a 'full' rally version.....:)

I'm guessing with the V-specII Gtr from tamiya has an extra set of wheels (the 5 spoke nizmo ones)
extra wing stays
V-specII decal for the rear
the lil scoop in the bonnet
and the instructions prolly just say to leave the front indicator lenses on the bumper clear

Excellent tho!
wen that kit comes out, i wanna build it in to the N1 version that has the carbon fibre bonnet.

I was thinking of buying one or two more 350Z kits to make variations, so the 350Z version ST is just what I want, except that if they reissue an existing kit, I hope Tamiya includes a different wheel. Especially the Z has the Rays 18 in. listed in its dealer brochure.

As for the GT-R, I already painted one in blue, but I was going to make the "Nur", so it's a welcome addition. If the Nismo 5 spoke is LM-GT4, I can use that for the 350Z to make the Nismo S-Tune.

The EVO VII looks superb, I expect that to be a popular kit! Usual Tamiya standards.

As for the V-Spec II, I fail to see why you'll get more than you see in the picture! The II had the same wheels as the I, even the NUR and M-Spec have those same 6 spoke wheels. Just a few colour options and interior changes were included.

I wasn't a fan of the simple approach to the 350Z, so I won't build another.

I shall include the V-spec II in the collection one day though.

Well, that's because I'm fluent in Japanese, and I have read the text when it was first announced.
Later, Tamiya added English page of the same kits.

If you've paid attention in the past, Tamiya brings only winners and Japanese cars if they're no winners - Mitsu, Subaru for the Japanese and Ford and Peugeot for the winners. As long as Citroën, Hyundai and Skoda are not regular winners, I'm afraid we won't see any of these by Tamiya - which is a big, big shame .

Especially the Huyndai is on my list.

As a teaser, check out the Huyndai WRC walk-around I did a couple of months ago.

Just read about the Mitsu and it say's decals for Richard Burns are included - he never drove the evo VII - did he???

freakray

No he didn't Chris, but he did drive the Evo V....
Maybe Tamiya are hoping that they will get him to drive the car that way, then Mitsu will have a decent driver on their team roster.....if they can last any amount of time without Marlboro's omney?

And in response to Huudo....Subaru are winners....just not this year:rolleyes:
I don't know how long we will wait for the Hyundai, since it is Korean....but I suspect we will see the Citroen soon:)

Hi Flyonthe wall,

The Mitsu EVO VII drivers were and are: Makinnen and Loix for 2001 and Delecour, A. McRae and Paasonen for 2002.

Oh and another thing, Mitus just lost their Marlboro sponsorship to Peugeot. I will be Red French Lions that we are going to see next year and another 206 to add to the collection.

Hi Freakray,
of course Subaru are winners, just as much as Mitsu are. But I guess you got my point ;) I'm betting on the Xsara more than the Hyundai... my own car is a Citroen, that why :smoka:

I'm sure we'll be seeing more Citroen kits soon. Sebastian Loeb's 2 victories (yes, 2, he was robbed of his Monte Carlo win by the FIA  ) has certainly given Citroen a lot of publicity, and they've only competed in half of this season's rallies. Next year is their first full competitive season, so I'm sure Tamiya or Fujimi will soon sit up and take notice.

Chris
