Don't do the tint yourself. After about a year it just turns purplish and looks plain nasty. Your best bet is to just save up your money and have a pro do it.

Yeah, most places here in town charge $120 - $160 for a hatch. Pretty reasonable if you ask me. They may charge extra to remove old tint (if you have any).

You can do it yourself, just take ur tiime and do it right, and also, all tints will turn putple because if u use the Blue color WINDEX or something like that with Amonea in it, it turns the tint purple, thats why u have to use the Green color Windex, or just use Soap and Water.

I have done it before, however on the rear windows of a hatch its quite difficult if you use the kind of tint you buy at the store (crap) because of the concave shape.. A tint shop will be better suited to do it because they use a heat gun to make it conform to the window without leaving any creases, plus their tint is usually a better grade stuff.. I would recommend getting it done at a shop.

i got my two rear windows, and the hatch window done on 5% tint for $$150!! Have It Done PROFESSIONALLY!! First Off It Will Take You At LEAST 2 times per window, thats about 10 bucks a roll, and it still wont look right!! Now If You Had A Car That Had FLAT Windows, Then It Would Be A Lot Easier, Unfortunately the windows on the 4g hondas, have a curve, so you can never get the edges just right!! Im talking from experience, and another nice thing about the tint, is that if you get it professionally done, and it does turn purple, they will put new tint on for free (limited lifetime warranty)!! Even Though the tint doesnt turn purple anyway!!
hope that helps you out

I have done it with my friend on his car, and it came out crappy, but he really diddt care, he just wanted to do it, he left it on for like 2 years now and it still looks the same, except the rear window because of the lines where the defroster made it bubble up around it........ But yea, get it professionally done, and if u clean the windows, use soap and water, and yea, if u get it professionally done, you DO have a lifetime warantee! I am gonna get the back three windows at "20%" because at night, 5% is WAY to dark and i like to see whats behind me :)

Window Tinting is not easy. Takes time & practice. I've done about 20 cars myself now - took me about 5 cars & watching a pro to get it good. I am most proud of my 1 piece for rear window 89 camaro. Cheap window tint found at parts stores is not really good it will change colors after a while. Go to a tinting place to purchase some rolls. Also there are places on the internet where you can order pre-cut pro quality tint or to buy pro-grade tint in rolls. The only problem is it comes in huge rolls. I found a place where you can order a hologram tint - looks mirror or black until viewed from an angle or light passing over it(just like the baseball cards or stickers)images are pre made or can be custom order with your own design. I would like to do the black with red eyes on the side. Looks bad ass. That stuff is like $170 for 1 window(pre-cut). No room for error.

I tinted the rear windows of my hatch myself. It came outfine but I kinda know what Im doing. I did buy the most expensive tint at the store though. it was like 17 bucks a roll. A hair dryer is good for getting the kinks out around the curves. The easiest thing to do for your rear windows is to take them out of the car. I believe it was like 9 screws on my 89 hatch. take the rear hinge out then the front has a cover on it that you unsnap I think, there was like 3 screws under that. I used soap and water. The tint has been on almost a year and still looks black as it did when I did it.
I had my old CRX tinted professionally by a 3M dealer and the rear hatch turned purple. I attribute this to the fact that the rear glass faces directly up towards the sky. It was redone because they give you lifetime warranty on it, but it was a hassle.
