Im planning on getting my girlfriend a remote car starter for winter since she parks outside and im wondering where i should get one from. Would it be a better idea to buy one from say best buy or a local dealer and have them install it or would it be better to get one off of ebay and have someone install it?
How much would install cost be and would getting one with an alarm also be better?
Thanks for any advice

Remote starts can vary ALOT in price differences and costs to install depending on where you go. Also, make sure you stay away from the cheapies, and one with an alarm will be beneficial I guess if you park outside.
I've been looking at them alot lately, and I'm either going to get a Viper or a Compustar. They're kind of expensive, but they're very high quality and I don't want to mess around with a cheap ass remote start.

I got one install from circust city ( spell ). And it was $60 for remote starter, and 120 for install ( but I went to the back and talk to the guy that gonna install for me, I told him I gave me $50 cash, better then $7.50 an hours work there. so its a deal ) the remote starter work great for over a year until I sold my rs.

Yes. They sell DEI stuff. They usually run about $200 installed. It really depends on which model you pick and what your car is. For a nice say Python or Viper remote start with keyless entry in say a new G6 or Ford Explorer would run about $300.
Personally, I like Compustar units. They have the same warranty (lifetime) but have on average 2x the range.
