I have been ASE certified for about 10 years I got it when I was still in High School..lol I have ase cert. in brakes, trannys, engine repair, and suspension. Hmmm what are you going to school for you dont have to go to school to get your ase cert. I renew mine every two years and there are kids right out of High school like I did gettting theres. It is a 75 dollar test.

why do you renew your's every 2 years? The ASE cert. doesn't have to be renewed for 5 years? THe prices depend on which test you're going to take
as for being ASE certified...it's not a big deal. Just something to brag about. I missed the May testing over here in MN, but will be taking them again. They are given 2 times a year. I know several people(inlcuding me)that knows more than some master ASE technicians

I remeber it was 75 about 10 years ago and you could get 2 certs. I dont know how much it is now, the shop I work for pays for it and they also require us to take the test every two years because they got introuble a few years ago sayin that they were ASE certified shop and they only had two of us in the shop that where. That was out of 12 techs but then again I just work on the shit that comes in. I dont pay the bills.
