2006 Denali 4X4 v8 has loud ticking noise when reach speed of 23 mph-- GM states this normal operation due to 8 cyl dropping to 4cyl-----
has anyone experience this? this is not a typical noise that a $40k vehicle should be making

Welcome to AF. This is really not the right forum for this. Probably the Yukon forum is more appropriate, But I don't think, unless you find an owner of a similar truck, that any of us can tell you if a percieved noise in your truck is normal regardless of purchase cost. You should be addressing that with GMC customer service dept. and/or the dealer..

A dealer should atleast allow you to test drive another similarly equipped truck to see if it sounds the same as yours.

why do you think I should be in the Yukon forum? that's a completely different vehicle---- the noise is not perceived -- the service dept is aware of the noise and have replaced several parts (driveshaft, entire exhaust system, tension pully) only to tell me it's normal------

Sorry, did not know the Envoy had it's own Denali model. So are you asking for any advice/resolution to this noise on the forum or whether there is another owner here with the same issue? Obviously sitting at our desks we are somewhat handicapped relative to hearing any noise, percieved or not.

i'm trying to see if any other owner has experienced the same problem - i need to know if this is an isolated problem or if indeed a "normal" noise

Again, you purchased a $40K vehicle. The dealership that sold it to you wont let you test drive another to atleast see if their theory on the noise is accurate? If they cant fix it, they atleast owe you some truth to their diagnosis.

Yes, I have driven another vehicle at the dealership and no noise was heard. GM states the vehicle needs to be past the break-in period (1,000 - 3,000 miles) that's why I was unable to hear noise in another vehicle. Dealership states they have not rec'd any similar problems from other owners. I'm very unhappy and trying to find someone that has experienced the same problem.

This is 2 years old, I doubt you will find anything here. I will give this 2 days then the thread is closed.

I have an 06 Envoy Denali with 33k miles and I haven't experienced any ticking noise. If you're not happy with what one dealership says or does then go to another GM dealer. I'm a GM/UAW employee and I can't stand to see dealerships give people the run around.
