Baby Wipe Flocking

what is this "baby wipe" flocking technique sounds fun :-) Please tell more

Since there has been quite a few people asking about this method, I thought I should share it with Everyone..This technique was something I discovered by accident..This is particularly easy if you have young children since most babies use this kind of product.

Usually I will use a wet wipe to dry off the brush I might be using or to wipe off the Excess so I can weather a part of a build.Believe it or not but my brushes seem to last longer because theyre not submerged in water.

I discovered After a few of the wipes had completely dried, that they seemed to look like a suitable alternative to using flocking power..They had a texture and a weave not alot unlike some car interiors..

I thought for a few weeks on how to change the colour of the material.I tried paint and markers, but finally I discovered that ink(Warhammer) was just perfect to dye the material and also dry without the colour coming back off.
If you use paint to dye the material I would suggest thin light coats as the paint hardens and causes the material to go quite rigid.

Ok this is a wipe Dipped and left to dry over night... Just plain black warhammer ink. And only one dip...You can do more which will get darker.

You'll find that most masking tapes will stick quite sufficiently to allow you to cut templates for floors, doors,Rear "Parcel" shelves and even seats.

A single layer of material on an unpainted floor is quite sufficient, but If you are planning a lighter vibrant colour, I would suggest you paint the floor first then apply the glue directly to the floor.

I use standard white Glue,PVA.Best left to dry for 5-10 minutes then apply the material.. The Glue hardens sufficient to hold the material but it can also be removed weeks later if you are not happy with the results.

Here is a BMW with a layer of material for the floor.

This is a seat inside a Nascar I built..I was Experimenting to see which kinds of effects I could achieve with Wipe/material.

I hope this Answers the baby wipe questions that have been asked..

Excellent! Thanks for sharing that.

I think the way you used it on that racing seat is really cool.

IIRC these wipes airdry pretty quickly, yes? About 1 day?
My only problem is where to get them - my three kids are waaaay past the bum wiping stage. (I hate to think what they would do to me if I tried!!)
