Hey all, im taking off the front bumper to change a headlight out. Is there anything I should know before i do? And how long should it take more or less? Any insight helpful, thanks.

What year Accord is this? But in any case, you don't need to remove the bumper to change a bulb. The bulbs are accessible through the engine bay.

Ah so. Well I never took the housing out of my 94 when I had it (RIP :frown: ) But it should be pretty straight forward. Probably two bolts holding it on the top and two more on the bottom. There could be one bolt that mounts horizontally on the bottom. Thats how it is in the 98-02.

As far as taking off the bumper, also straight forward. Gromets in the wheel wells and gromets/clips underneath. They probably either pull straight out (you may need some pliers if they're stuck) or some screw out before you can pull it the rest of the way. If you don't feel like taking off all the clips on the bottom, you can just kinda let the bumper hang off the front of the car. Thats what I do.

When putting it all back together, try to get everything to fit as tight as possible before putting clips/screws back. Most likely once you take it all off, it won't fit back exactly as it came off, but you can toy with it to find out.

First time I swapped out headlights it took me about 30 min for the first one, mainly cause there is a screw in a very inconvenient spot. But after the first time it only takes me about 15 minutes to get the bumper off and the headlights out.

OH WAIT! Please remember to unhook or take out your bulbs before you try to yank out the housings.

Good luck mang :smokin:

Changing the headlight housing on your 94 accord is hella time consuming. You WILL NEED to take off the bumber.

First take off your grill (there should only be a couple of screws holding it down)

Then unscrew the plastic screws holding your bumper down (Note: There should be three under the grill, a couple under the headlight [i forgot how i got to those screws], and a couple under the bumper. There are a couple of screws on either side of the bumper that hold on to the fenders.

As soon as you get the bumber off, you will need to take off the bumper brace using a hex driver. Then you will see all the bolts that secures your headlights.

After you change out the headlights, just replace everything in reverse order. You may want to leave out the screws of the bumper that were under the headlights. Also you will need to make sure the headlights are aimed correctly. You don't want your headlights pointing to the sky.

Be careful when removing the plastic screws, they can strip easily. Also, after you remove the plastic screws, you will need to remove the anchor as well. Just use a flat head for that. If you need step by step photos, I can scan them in later.

I put halos on my car and it took about 1 hour because I stripped some of the plastic screws.

I have a 95 Accord that I need to remove the bumper (it's kinda scraped up, twisted, and broken thanks to my teenage daughter meeting the rear of a Nissan):crying:. How many pieces make up the bumper assembly (cover, reinforcements, braces, etc.)?? Does anyone have an exploded illustration of the bumper components?

I'll try to upload one later today.
