*first post :D *
I recently watched the original Gone in 60 seconds, and took notice of the yellow Manta pictured in it. Having seen such a car before, I went to look up the stats on the internet, and found nothing. Does anyone know anything about this vehicle? It looks like a beast...

There were at least two cars that bore this name.
One is a US-made kit car replica of a Porsche LeMans race car. It is usually attached to a VW Beetle chassis. I believe they were built in the late seventies or early eighties. For information on this, try hitting the kit car forums. While they look neat, I can only imagine the embarrassment one would have to endure in constantly having to explain to the curious that it has a Beetle engine.
The other Manta was made by Opel in Germany. It was an excellent car, sold through Buick dealerships in the US. Finding parts for these today would be difficult. While the Manta was a practical, sporty 2-door, 4-seater, it was in the shadow of the Opel GT, which looked like a mini-Corvette.
