Eliminating EGR ???

Hey;
I've been thinking, since my EGR valve is pretty much crap and I don't want to spend the money to replace it, why not just replace it. However, here in IL, I have emmissions. So a couple of questions.

1) Block off plates are easy. But it will throw a CEL. Is there anyway to eliminate the CEL from it? Like an EGR simulator or something?

2) Would I still have problems passing emmissions without the EGR and with a CEL? Would the readings be higher or something?

3) Any harm by removing the EGR system?

Thanks guy!

Anyone? Any way to not get the CEL to come up?

i blocked my egr and didnt get never got a cel for that, and i think if you mess with anything that has to do with emissions you wont pass it.

I know mine will throw a CEL within 50 miles of driving without it. I've done it a couple times, plus with mine being bad already

When you did it before, did you just unplug it or do it the right way?

I am with them, I have no emissions stuff and no CEL's but then again, we are all 4g63 guys too. Would unbolting it, leaving it plugged in, and then blocking it off work? Thats what I did for the stock BCS, I am pretty sure just unplugging that will toss a code, so I just left er plugged in and put it off to the side.
