New Bike

Just thought I'd share with everyone the exceptional buy that I came across yesterday. I bought a 1985 Honda VF500FF Interceptor in PERFECT condition with an aftermarket body with full sides, flush mount rear signals, new tires, and all that good stuff for $700. I was figuring it would be slow and powerless, but to my surprise, Honda's specs say 0-60 in 3.9, and it definitely does it even better than their expectation. It doesn't even compare to my ZX10R, but it's an awesome little ride.

here's the pics. I forgot to mention that I have to recover the seat tomorrow, but that's only a $.50 fix.

No, i'm going to make this my street bike and make my ZX-10R my track bike. Then I can run in the Super Bike class.

planning to race? which region?

I have no idea about the regions. this will be my first track bike. But I DO know that I'll be spending most of my time laying down passes at Hallett Motor Speedway in Tulsa, OK.

Great sites, Aussie! I thank you for those. It's nice to know that the bike was welcomed enthusiastically by the press and fared well above other bikes of its size. I know it's been a pleasure to ride and can't seem to stay off of it. I especially like the 3.7 second 0-60 time I've been pulling consistently. I can't wait to get it on the drag strip. I'm also going to search out a rear-seat eliminator, a 4-1 header, performance slip-on, and just clean it back up to its former glory.

I thought they were going to redesign the bike from ground up next year. That bike needs some weight-shaving to do the motor justice. It doesn't have to be hefty to be sport tourer.

2007 looks exactly the same as 2006, but with uglier paint. I was praying for a redesign so I could get the pearl white 06 for CHEAP, but it isn't going to happen... at least not until Spring (when I am hoping to have saved some bank, and maybe even made some other life-altering changes).

Why would you want the Viffer? You don't strike me as the touring type :D.
Granted, Viffer can handle quite well, but a cbr600 would be better. As far as comfort, the F4 and F4i are like the sport tourer these days. I never had aching wrist because the clip ons are high, lower body acclimated since I first rode it, so no pain anywhere for hours that I'd ride. And it can be picked up cheap these days. And when it comes to turns, you can be a focused rider or sloppy, the bike will get you through.

The banana seat on the new F4is is FUGLY... and I will NOT buy someone else's problem this time around. Warranties are my FRIEND.
Besides, at 5'10", the CBR line is a lil on the tiny side for me.
Did I mention that the pearl white Viffer is ORGASMICLY GORGEOUS???

Picky Picky!
The 2001-2003 has the split seat design, but it'll hurt more. Besides the Viffer has banana seat as well. As for 600s being small, lol, you're out of luck, it only gets smaller from there, F4/F4i is few of the roomiest 600 out there, although I still can't fully crouch behind the windshield. From 2001+ they're all cramped, but for a "regular 5' 5" girl," it would be a good thing. :D

Um, SSSA and seat cowls are the Viffer's friends... besides, I'd remove the rear pegs, thus making the SSSA that much sexier. ;) ABS is a groovy option, too. Let's just face it... CBRs are just lack-luster compared to the Viffer.

Is there a difference? Once these bikes hit the top end, they're pretty even. Even sadder, same year 954 cost about the same as F4i :D.

if they had the same performance and cost the same, why bother having two models?:screwy:
you know the 600 wouldn't keep up with the 954. acceleration and top speed. :nono:
ps the cbr600rr was released before the end of year run out on the blades and was $17500AUS ride away compared to $19500 on the blade. the run out sale dropped the blade to $15000 in the last month to move all stock ready for the 1000RR.
f4i's were about $14000. if they could sell one

precisely, not even displacement helped the cause pricing it much more than f4i :p. it shows Honda didn't care to compete those 2 years when they made it. and at the states, the F4i is still being sold here brand new. and 2003 F4i are found for about $5k, while the 03 954 is more like $4.2-4.8K, lol.
Regardless of the RR bikes, now don't you think if they had an actual market for 954 just like the f4i they do here, they could have continued the line? :D

what are you smoking?????
the price dropped from $19500 to $15000 to get rid of stock to make way for the new model.
as for continuing the line of the RR. have ya heard of a CBR1000RR.........
the 1000 was the new 954, the 954 was the new 929, the 929 was the new 919, and so on back down the blade family tree.
pricing......
the 954 can be cheaper due to the learners ditate price on used bikes. learners buy second hand bikes and the market pushes up prices on "nice"bikes to learn on. down here a 1991 cbr250rr will fetch as much as a 98 r1 or 2000 gixer750 all because of the demand from learners
on your line of thinking, does a ninja zx series die with the ZX9. same senario. it was $15000 ride away to make room for ZX10's yet the zx6r was $16000 ride away.
how about the CBR1100XX. been $15000 ride away for 3 years now. do you want to compare that to an F4i based simply on price
drugs are bad umkay.

LOL. looks like someone is way too defensive.
but the point is honda probably didn't sell that many compared to other makes on the count of being slow. and at the used markets, like you have over there, it's not one of the cool bikes one would upgrade to anymore, even when the price is way low compared to other liters. :D
f4i has that market on the account of still being in production and newbie friendly. but there's no comparison, i was throwing shit :p.
