I know this is a new forum but maybe I can catch someone that can help, I own a 626 GT 2.2L Turbo and I was wondering if anyone knew of some quick engine upgrades for this car I have owned it for about a year and i am pushing close to 176K on it. Any replies would be appreciated. I was also wondering if anyone knew the cutoff on this car and how I could eliminate it. The other week I ran a straight 2.5" pipe from the converter back and it sounds suprisingly good. Hopefully we can get this forum up and running, i would like to see it take off.

My suggestion would be to replace injectors with new ones, Get FMU upgrade fuel pump, they usually fit any car, Good Spark plugs and wires, replace the Rotor cap and rotor, Fuel filter, and all belts, Check the turbo oil lines too and get your self a Turbo timer if you dont already have one. Eliminate the pre cat down pipe with a straight downpipe this will give you about 15-20 HP alone and you can usually get any muffler shop to build you one for not too much money, and of course a KN filter or universal intake system, With all that combined you will see a substancial gain in power from the stock setup and still maintain reliability and not stress the car so much, With a full custome exhaust and a better ignition system you might be able to turn the boost up a pound or too, and you can always make your own manual boost controller for about $5, you can find all the necessary parts at your local hardware store. Good Luck. :D

thats some good info i was planning on replacing the plugs and wires sometime soon......A turbo timer and a turbo boost gauge are the same thing right?? i have researched about them a little in other forums. and what exactly do they do, it shows when your turbo is boosting and at how many PSI it is boosting at correct? in return, accompanied with a tach will tell you at what RPM it cuts out and then you would know when you hit max. horsepower for each gear. im not sure on this but if i can get some clarification it would be helpful. and as far as i know can't it be fairly harmful to increase the PSI your turbo boosts at, i heard that you could probably get away with increasing it by 1 or 2 at the most without any harm being done.

The turbo allows your car to run for a minute or two after you have taken the key out, this allows for oil to keep passing through the turbo and removes heat, allowing it to cool the proper way, This will make the life of the turbo alot longer, one of the bigges problems with people who own turbo cars is that they don't allow the turbos to cool off after they have been run it, cutting the life of the turbo in half and decreasing performance. The boost gauge is simply to track your boost pressure. You wanna keep an eye out for spikes which can cause Detonation and other serious problems. Yeah increasing the boost pressure a pound or two will not cause harm right away but in time you will notice engine deterioration, so its best if you install an exhaust and intake system and a fuel pressure riser before raising the boost, just my opinion. thats just my preferrence. I like to play it safe if you know what i mean.

yea dude, i don't know a ton about turbos cuz i don't have one but i know that turbos can be rough on your engine. if you're already pushing the engine's life then screwing with the boost could easily destroy your engine. if you do decide to do that you should at least get a blowoff valve, that'll make the turbo easier on your car. it would be pretty sweet if you dropped your car and got a custom cold air intake. if you really wanna make an awesome car you should buy the jspec 626 engine from www.corksport.com and find a way to drop it into your car. i have a 95 626 and i decided that instead of modifying it that i should just continue to save up for an rx7.
