1996 was the change-over year between P10 and P11. What you are probably seeing is the induction kit for the P10. As for whether it'll fit, I doubt it. The P10 to P11 was a fairly major model upgrade, so it's probably changed a lot.

Have a look around the previous threads - from what I remember several people have fitted induction kits. As for replacement filter, there is one from K&N, but they don't list it. I've got a RAMAir in mine, but I wouldn't particually recommend them.

Thanks mate; I will have a look round. Would not suppose you know on a full system exhaust that is designed for the 1.6 as all the ones I can fined are made for the GT.

I'm afraid I haven't got a clue about the 1.6 - most of the aftermarket stuff is for the 2.0 or 1.8 engines.

Just out of curiousity, however, what is the model number of your engine? Is it a GR16DE or SR16?

Depending which engine you have, depends on how you can modify. If it's the GR16DE, this was fitted to sunnys and also the 100nx. Best bet would be to look for spares for these cars - there's more market in these areas. If it's the S engine, have a look at almeras.

For the primeras, I think the majority of aftermarket stuff comes from the states, where I doubt they sell the 1.6 and therefore wouldn't supply for it. Best bet is to find another car with the same engine, then leach off their aftermarket stuff.

I suppose one option would be to find a scrap GT and steal it's exhaust and air intakes. You'll probably have to do some DIY to get them to fit, but they would probably be as good as aftermarket stuff on a 1.6.

GA16de is the MPI Model.
And I think there are no differences between the GA16de in the P10/P11...

theres a good chance you may be able to fit the K&N kit for the GT on your P11 ...need to look at a pic of your engine though....

Welcome to another UK p11 fan.....visit us at the new
UK owners club (http://www.nissanprimera.net) :)

i used to have a GA14DE almera which is basically the same engine but smaller. Heres what you can do.

when it comes to the filter, you have 2 options.
1, you can remove the plastic intake pipe from the side of the air box. Just pull it out and unbolt/unclip from any of its supports. then just bin it. Now, the opening left on the airbox is about 2 " i think, just find a cone filter that has the same diameter neck and clamp in on. Thats it, apart form maybe installing some tubing to flow some cool air in that direction.

2, this is a bit trickier. you can ramove the whole airbox, by unclamping the jubille clip between the bottom of the box and throttle body. Disconnect the VC breather pipe. Now you need a VC Breather filter, and also some mandrel bend pipe and silicone joins. The idea is to replace the box with a length of stainless steel tubing, so first youre gonna need a right angle bend, then some straights. Now you can mount the filter as far forward as you want by extending the pipe as you please.

To be honest, theres not a lot you can do with your GA16DE to get loadsa power, but you could always do this.

Well the problem on this Turbo kit are the brakes for sure.
They´d have to be modified too. With this lots of money you could buy a (e)GT i ithink.

yes you could very easily buy an eGT but you still won't have the same power gains :)

Well that might be right but a friend of mine owns a P10eGT (still stock engine) and we won a little "race" on the A4 against a Vauxhal Astra GSi (around 160PS).
Best was: Our P10 had to do that with 4passenges, the Astra with one person only...

 That was quite impressive for me:eek:

yep I don't doubt that at all cause, these cars are pretty good even with relatively simple mods....

at the end of the day depends what you're after and how much money you got to burn :D

AH AT LAST another 1.6 owner ( mine was the red one on WWW.PrimeraWeb.co.uk )..... You sound like me..... i bought the Si cos i couldnt afford to insure the GT, then 4 years later i AM NOW THE OWNER OF A GT!!! . As for the filter, the only thing available is the replacement filter, I made a replacement pipe for mine like kev suggested and put a cone filter on the end.... i wish i knew you before i sold the car 4 weeks ago, you could have had mine for free !!, I got rid of the Si with the GT front grills, GT side skirts, Factory fog lamps, Powerflow custom exhaust, home made induction kit, 17" tsw EVO R wheels and new tyres, momo gear knob, lowered suspension and tinted windows !! I was going to take it all off and keep it for the new GT but i couldnt be arsed and thought i'd start afresh.

If you need to know anything about the Si give me a shout.... i must have replaced everything on it at some point..... only the engine was original when i traded it in for £1500

if you are going to the gathering of primera owners in September... I'll see you there !!

I think that’s just bad timing. I noticed your car on PrimeraWeb and that’s how i got onto this forum. I plan to do the same type of things to my car, i need things like the front fogs and grill and i would also like the side skirts. Engine wise i think i will just get the replacement filter and leave it a that. I will have to keep the car for a few years then progress on to a GT. It was quite annoying as to weeks after buying my Si a garage up the road from me had a GT come in and it was a special addition with the cool paintwork and Nissan 16" alloys, would not been able to afford the insurance but it would have been one hell of a car. I will try and make it to the Primera meeting but i am meant to be working, i will have to see the Bose.
If you know of any places i can get parts or if you have any general advice would be great. Thanks.

i got 136,000 miles out of mine before things started to go wrong, so your pretty safe for a while till the GT arrives !! most of the parts i fitted were bought direct from the nissan dealers as there are very few places selling bits for the 1.6 Si but thats the expensive option, i was modding mine before people started crashing GT's so scrap yards didnt have any bits in them that i could have had, like the grills and the side skirts, ive still got the old chrome standard grills. If you want to experiment by cutting them up your quite welcome to have them for free as they're no use to me any more..... if you get the fog lights you will need to replace the indicator stalk aswell as the fogs are switched on from there, the nissan dealers did the whole lot for me and i think it wasnt that bad a price from what i can remember.

as for the intake system best thing to do in the mean time is pull the plastic pipe out of the filter box, it makes a great roar when you sink the boot on the go faster pedal, you loose a bit of performance but it sounds wicked !!

The engine on your car is exactly the same as my 95 p10, so the induction kit will work, where were u going to get it from? all i`ve been able to find is a replacement filter:-/

well it is the right kit and it sounds pretty much the same as removing the tube from the original air box but without the performance drop.Fitting it is a doddle ,the filter goes on straight where the air box was ,you get a bit of pipe that goes from the cam cover into the filter and the vacuum pipe goes into the filter too .thats it ,job done

Cor !!

nearly a year between replies...lol

things have moved on a bit now with regards to the intake on the 1.6... there is now a company in the UK that is in the process of manufacturing a cold air intake kit to get the filter away from the top of the throttle body... Its being tested on an Almera from the AOC... I think i can successfully say that PrimeSi has found all the info he needs on this subject as he and many other have been part of the NPOC for over a year now
