Another Rough Idle Thread

Hey guys, I searched the site hopefully I didn't overlook a thread with the same exact problem. I just rebuilt the engine in my 91 Stealth R/T NA and I start her up and it sounds like my timing is HORRIBLE, and then she stalls. I put in Stage II cams, and a forged crank would that matter for my timing? I messed with the CAS and idle adjustments and such but to no avail. Any ideas?? It starts and wants to die, if I pump the gas it will rev high and then start to die again. I have tried adjust the Idle Screw that is recessed into the throttle body (not the fixed screw). I have checked my vacuum lines, it is driving me crazy. Also the honeycomb type stuff (don't know the name) inside my Mass Air Flow Sensor is gutted, it was bent up so I finished the job, but it ran fine after I did that, but is that stuff useful or unimportant? any ideas would help. Thanks

Stepper motor, ECU, Spark plugs, Timing??? I would try cleaning/replacing the stepper motor first, then check the ecu for any leaks, etc....................

Where can I find info on cleaning the stepper motor, do you have a link? Also, do I have to "realign" it or anything, never messed with the stepper motor before

Are you talking about checking the capacitors in the ECU for leaks??

yes, he's talking about leaking capacitors.

Have you checked the timing? Are you getting any Check engine lights? Gutted MAS are fickle. Some people have no problems with them, others have major idling issues with them...so borrowing and swapping in a non-gutted one wouldn't hurt (DSMs have identical MAS just fyi) just to see if that is the problem. IAC as mentioned above, ecu caps...possibly. Pressure test the intake, a blown-off or cracked intercooler pipe could cause that. Just recheck the obvious stuff.
